Wednesday, March 29, 2006. The Light at the End of the Tunnel . . . . It's been awhile since my last post, but I've been waiting for a few things to transpire before I updated the blog, so here goes. I have now completed 6 out of 8 chemo treatments. Hooray! I can’t believe that I’m almost done. You know what they say . . . time flies when you’re having fun! During the 2nd surgery (a few months after the first), they will remove the tissue expanders and insert saline or silicon implants. (It's my choi...

Wednesday, July 18, 2007. Above are the "before" and "after" pictures (co-starring the Balogs, Jeff, Zoe and Adam). Having done this before, it is no big deal at all. It's actually very liberating and cool for the summer! Despite the chaos that is our garage these days, I have found all of my hats, wigs and other bald person supplies, except my wig shampoo, which I've ordered online, and then I'll be all set. Love to you all,. Posted by Shannon Fallick at 9:07 PM. Links to this post. I am doing fine, fee...

Saturday, May 27, 2006. Dear Family and Friends,. Shannon had her surgery on Wednesday and both the general surgeon and plastic surgeon gave her the thumbs up in terms of a successful procedure! To be safe, they are running a final pathology on her tissue (both breasts), but they didn't see anything "suspicious" and expect all to be fine. Although she is still in quite a lot of pain, and very sad she can't pick up Adam or Zoe, she is happy to be home and on her road to recovery. Links to this post.

Before the second treatment on Tuesday, Shannon's docs gave her some good news in that all of her importants stats, such as white blood cells, red blood cells, hemoglobin, platelets, etc. (not bad for an insurance broker from UCSB, eh? And we're hoping that the effects will begin subsiding over the next 48 hours. Links to this post.

Friday, June 22, 2007. Hello again, everyone! If you are reading this blog, you probably know that I will have to have chemo again. I am starting next week, and will have 4-6 treatments every 3 weeks - so it will probably last 3-4 months. After that, I will have 6 weeks of radiation, just to make sure that I don’t miss my doctors after the end of chemo. :-). And menopause-related symptoms (because my ovaries will be fried again). So I am updating my blog in the middle of chemo treatment no. 4. Pretty good multi-tasking, no? I know that it's been awhile since I wrote, and I apologize for that. Between chemo, the move, and all that surrounds it, things have been a bit crazy, as you can imagine. Ellie is running a study on Breast Cancer Vaccines that is incredibly promising. Thursday, April 20, 2006. Chemo Finis, Finito, Terminado . . . . DONE! Well friends, this picture is photographic evidence of our last session in chemo; hopefully forever. Although I have a few surgeries ahead of me, both Jeff and I feel that the worst has passed. Of course, my body doesn't know that I'm not going back in 2 weeks, so I'm not feeling so great right now, but my mind is VERY happy about all of this! Although resting isn't my strong suit, I have promised Jeff to give it my all. :-).
