Unplug everything you are not using- toasters, chargers, etc. Switch all lights to CFLs-there are now all sizes and types. Clean furnace filters monthly if have forced air systems. Buy energy star appliances. Turn off computers at end of day. Put in energy savings mode after 10 minutes of nonuse. LCD monitors use less energy. Laptops use much less energy. Use fireplace minimally-make sure flue is closed.
