Left and to the Back. Digging for nuggets from the dusty old storerooms of pop. Iron Cross - Little Bit O' Soul/ Sunshine. Year of Release: 1972. While the debate still rages about whether the USA hit version of "Little Bit O' Soul" by The Music Explosion. Is bubblegum or garage - and "who gives a toss, it's marvellous anyway? Would be my answer to that - this heavy, stomping glam cover of it in 1972 puts a different spin on the idea. Links to this post. Reparata - Shoes/ A Song For All. Reparata had pre...

Left and to the Back. Digging for nuggets from the dusty old storerooms of pop. Blossom Dearie - Discover Who I Am/ The Music Played. Year of Release: 1968. So who was the mysterious "Wollawitch" (suspiciously aligned to Blossom Dearie Music Ltd) who wrote this? Sadly, Dearie passed away in 2009 after a long illness, so we may never quite know the truth. Except, lo and behold, within minutes of me posting this Sean Bright came up with the answer in the comments below. Blimey! Links to this post. The B-si...

True Love and High Adventure. I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library.". Monday, January 01, 2007. Wow, that week went quickly. What am I saying? That whole YEAR went quickly. Strange to think that I was pregnant for most of it, effectively inhabiting a different body to the one I had before, and to the one I have now. I actually missed the start of 2007 during a snatched sleep, but Alice kindly woke me up a few minutes in and we celebrated with a very pooey nappy and a bottle of.

True Love and High Adventure. I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library.". Thursday, November 09, 2006. Fantastic present from my coworker and her four year old daughter: a chocolate Venus of Willendorf! Although at the moment you could be forgiven for thinking it was actually an uncanny representation of, well, me. I think they should go into business mass-producing these. Educational, empowering AND delicious! What more could a woman want? Wednesday, November 08, 2006.

And yep, this record is a reissue rather than the original CBS pressing, but beggars can't be choosers. Links to this post. Reupload - The Calliope - Clear Mud/ Wiser. Year of Release: 1970 (recorded in 1969). Remember what I said about rare psychedelic/ dancefloor crossover records? Links to this post. I Shinko - The Shining/ Daze of Pleazure. Kenny You...

Left and to the Back. Digging for nuggets from the dusty old storerooms of pop. Eastside Kids - Subway Train/ Sunday Stranger. Year of Release: 1965. Billy Carl co-authored the A-side "Subway Train" and there's evidence to suggest that this is Billy Carlucci who eventually served in the 1910 Fruitgum Company. It seems probable that he was a member of this very short-lived outfit too. As for the rest? No idea. No data. If you know, please pass your knowledge on. Links to this post. Year of Release: 1972.
