Adventures of a Vagabond Volunteer: May 2015
http://mkircus2.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Adventures of a Vagabond Volunteer. Sunday, May 31, 2015. Snow Shall Not Stop the Egg Tendors. Saturday, May 16. Following the milking of the eggs and milt from grayling yesterday, the fish guys set up this year's nursery early this morning. It is at Elk Springs where we have the purest water and consists of two sets of 5 linked 5 gallon buckets, connected with piping so the spring water can wash over the eggs and give them maximum oxygen. Volunteer Dick, ready to leave. View at the end of the road.

Adventures of a Vagabond Volunteer: Oh, This Place, This Place
http://mkircus2.blogspot.com/2015/08/oh-this-place-this-place.html
Adventures of a Vagabond Volunteer. Wednesday, August 5, 2015. Oh, This Place, This Place. The landscapes here are amazing; even though I look at the same features almost every day, they are always different. Friday, July 10, we had lots of storms around and lots of leftover clouds, which made for beautiful light all day. I could not stop taking landscape pictures. Many of the are from that Friday, but others are ones I've captured in the two summers I've volunteered here. Looking across Elk Springs Creek.

Adventures of a Vagabond Volunteer: Norris Geyser Basin in Two Lights
http://mkircus2.blogspot.com/2015/07/norris-geyser-basin-in-two-lights.html
Adventures of a Vagabond Volunteer. Wednesday, July 29, 2015. Norris Geyser Basin in Two Lights. I am always impacted by light and loved seeing some of the same geysers in different lights. And it was also really nice to practically have the basin to myself the first time. And people were definitely getting less in number as the day waned during our second visit. Some of the boardwalks were closed the first visit but open about a week later for the second visit which allowed us to see all the features.

Adventures of a Vagabond Volunteer: February 2015
http://mkircus2.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Adventures of a Vagabond Volunteer. Monday, February 23, 2015. Krewe of Barkus and Meoux Parade. I forgot to set this up to run last Sunday. Currently postponing my next adventures due to icy mist and cold. But I'll be camping at three different state parks this week. I multitasked Sunday afternoon, February 14, and got in a walk as well as taking in a parade. I thought the pet parade might be fun to watch and was not disappointed. All the young at heart had a good time. Two of the ferrets. Willett and g...

Adventures of a Vagabond Volunteer: June 2015

Adventures of a Vagabond Volunteer. Sunday, June 28, 2015. Hike on Odell Creek Trail. June 14, 2015. The trail certainly doesn't look like much at the beginning. In fact, I never actually found the trail at first, since I thought the sign was pointing to the trail. and it starts against the fence to private land. But as you go further along, the trail becomes very easy to see. The trail has a lot of ups and downs, but not a lot of total elevation change. Aspen grove near beginning of trail. These yellow ...

Adventures of a Vagabond Volunteer: November 2014
http://mkircus2.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Adventures of a Vagabond Volunteer. Sunday, November 30, 2014. Goodbye to Rivers, Lakes, Bayous and Swamps. Dickinson Bayou is one of the closest places to paddle on the mainland and I only had a short drive to the put-in. Several paddlers were already there and several more arrived right after I did, so soon there was the usual pandemonium of getting kayaks off the vehicles and into the water. Leader John getting ready. The last of the spider lilies getting pollinated. John giving us our paddling rules.

Adventures of a Vagabond Volunteer: January 2015
http://mkircus2.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Adventures of a Vagabond Volunteer. Wednesday, January 28, 2015. Let The Adventures Begin. First Adventure, 2015. Saturday, January 16, I woke to the multiple roars of airboats departing to go duck hunting from Goose Island State Park. Nature was calling, so I quickly dressed and stepped out of my tent to find the dark sky awash in dark pink clouds. I quickly grabbed my camera and set off on a route to the island that would take me past a restroom. The fishing pier at dawn. Earth, water, air and fire.

Adventures of a Vagabond Volunteer. Sunday, July 20, 2014. Paddle on Henry's Fork of the Snake River. Looking Downstream from Bridge at Big Springs. All built by Johnny Sack. Bark-covered boards for artistic details. Oak flooring in log cabin quilt pattern. One of two bedrooms - furniture by Johnny Sack. He was the only winter resident in the area and spent his winters making furniture to sell. He also built cabins for other people. He did all his work with hand tools, which are also on display. Then, af...

Adventures of a Vagabond Volunteer: April 2015

Adventures of a Vagabond Volunteer. Wednesday, April 29, 2015. Wild Bird Wednesday: Birds of South Llano River State Park. I spent a lot of time at the blinds at South Llano State Park. It attracts both seed eaters and birds that want a drink or a bath. Here are a few of my favorite birds. Field sparrow looking yellow in the morning light. Male painted bunting - never saw the two tone green female. Lark sparrows were everywhere. Chats were migrating through. Bell's vireos sang incessantly. Oh yes, when I...
