Frontier Christian Academy: Workbox Tweeks

http://frontierchristianacademy.blogspot.com/2010/03/workbox-tweeks.html

A Nonconventional Walk through Life. Saturday, March 6, 2010. We are still loving using our workbox system. I'm not such a stickler for doing the drawers in order anymore, but just that each one gets done. Now that they have the hang of things, we are getting much more done in less time. It's been a great addition. Cody and I have spent the week talking about The Scarlet Letter. We have been using Inspiration software to do our character sketches which has been great fun. Well, fun for me anyway.

http://frontierchristianacademy.blogspot.com/2010/01/workboxes-for-mature-homeschoolers.html

A Nonconventional Walk through Life. Monday, January 4, 2010. Workboxes for the Mature Homeschoolers! Well, after looking for a science notebook for 4 days, I know this is really going to help us in 2010. What am I talking about? Sue Patrick's Workbox System. Ability to work independently for substantial periods. Reduction of talking and distractions during school time. My abiltiy to "see" what is accomplished each day. So, here is where we started. I began by buying a 7 drawer rolling cart for each chil...

Frontier Christian Academy: January 2010

http://frontierchristianacademy.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html

A Nonconventional Walk through Life. Wednesday, January 13, 2010. OK, so I have a Mac but no software seems to do what I want it to do as far as completing a weekly schedule. Then, I found Planbook. This is a great program written for teachers. However, it is very intuitive and the drag and drop features are awesome. I made a file for each of my children and then could export, import common lessons. I love this program, though I had a few glitches. Overall, it's seems to be a great program. This blog is ...

Every day is an adventure and I feel blessed to see my children learn new concepts and discover new ideas. I love to see them propped upside down, right side up, or feet up reading a book. Frontier Christian Academy: New Year - Same Goals as We Enter The High School Years?

http://frontierchristianacademy.blogspot.com/2010/01/new-year-same-goals.html

A Nonconventional Walk through Life. Friday, January 1, 2010. New Year - Same Goals as We Enter The High School Years? So, we are committed to the long haul. Our desire was initially to allow our children to learn in an environment that would allow them to bloom in their own way to be all Christ was purposing them to be for Him. Now, I feel we have accomplished some of this but not everything. In some ways I am encouraged, in others I really struggle. Have my children learned to love learning? C)2009 Fro...

The Johnsen Crew: Frankenstein - How Did I Miss This?

http://frontiermusings.blogspot.com/2010/11/frankenstein-how-did-i-miss-this.html

Saturday, November 13, 2010. Frankenstein - How Did I Miss This? Cody had to read Frankenstein for British Literature and I realized I had never read the actual book. Oh, yes, I have watched the infamous movies with the screw in the throat and the boots, but never read the original book. What a treat! I couldn't put it down. I found it fascinating how Mary Shelley portrayed the women in her book as weak and feeble, yet she was a woman ahead of her time. Her vocabulary was amazing! How do I feel about him?

Tuesday, May 26, 2009. Summer and The "B" Word. So, the "B" word (bored) is not allowed here at all this summer.  I have sooo many books, cleaning and science exercises for the kiddos that I will squirm if I hear that word.  But, alas, here come the pranksters, led by the Princess Belle and Dusty .  . The Johnsen Crew: July 2009

http://frontiermusings.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html

Thursday, July 16, 2009. I couldn't put it down! I bought this book a few years back somewhere. I'm sure it was at a yard sale, library book sale, Goodwill, etc. You know I can't miss a good book for a buck. Anyway, I put it away and didn't read it until a week ago. I saw it mentioned as a book not to miss. Well, that was an understatement. Can someone really go and experience anything without being changed? And, does it change us all equally? A masterpiece of literature. Truly sensational. History - Spi...

The Johnsen Crew: "Innocent Traitor" by Alison Weir

http://frontiermusings.blogspot.com/2009/12/innocent-traitor-by-alison-weir.html

Tuesday, December 29, 2009. Innocent Traitor" by Alison Weir. What a wonderful book! In her first novel, Weir portrays a truly fascinating Lady Jane Grey, born of ambitious parents and made to suffer the injustices of the era. Her character portrayals are vivid and the book left me in awe of the historical times. This is a great book, one not to be missed. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). http://frontiermusings.blogspot.com/2009/11/some-days-you-just-need-movie.html

Tuesday, November 17, 2009. Some Days You Just Need A Movie. So, I just wasn't too motivated. I admit it. The kiddos did all their independent school work but I had some things to take care, a few errands to run and I just couldn't get into the teaching mode. What was my remedy you ask? Well, we piled in the den and watched "Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid.". Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Join our Crew on this Great Adventure called the Christian Life! Life is Short so. Monday, April 20, 2015. Snowy Day Proves it is Not Spring Yet. Silly conclusion isn't it? Looking at a day in time does not prove the season. Yet that is how science makes conclusions now and usually how we make conclusions too. Is the Bible true? This is an eternal questions with eternal consequences. I do not pretend to be so knowledgeable to give a grand and fully reasoned answer. All I can offer is my experience (in a very shortened version) and another question. There is a whole 'nother discussion a...
