http://thelandrumsblog.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html
Thursday, April 29, 2010. Who Do You Know? We are in chilly Minneapolis this morning attending the first day of the Christian Alliance for Orphans Conference. So far: incredible! We were able to hear Tom Davis. Speak at the opening session and he was part of the session I attended on engaging "Youth and College Age Students in Orphan Ministry". If you're unfamiliar with Tom, a great place to start is his book Fields of the Fatherless. So much has been said this morning that strikes us deeply. The mos...

Kristina's Story: Can You Hear Me Now?
http://kristinasstory.blogspot.com/2009/02/can-you-hear-me-now.html
Sunday, February 15, 2009. Can You Hear Me Now? Kristina has wanted a cell phone since she arrived here and we have told her "no" repeatedly for several reasons. Mostly, we didn't feel she possessed the maturity to handle the privledge. And we've made it a rule that whenever the kids insist that they "need" something, we put them off until they understand the difference between "want" and "need". However, in my heart, I had already committed. Her picture is the background on my cell phone. I stepped out on Friday and shared with a close friend and co-worker our desire to adopt again (and she didn't faint! I revamped our family blog. With that said, we are moving. At least moving blogs. Kristina's Story was me...One o...

Unaware of Their Peril | Adopting In Iowa
https://doctordavid.wordpress.com/2008/10/22/unaware-of-their-peril
Unaware of Their Peril. Natural children, from the time they are born, expect their parents to parent them. The baby cries, the mother mothers they both attach to each other, it works, it’s natural. No thanks are in order. But, what if something happens, something that isn’t supposed to happen. The parents die. The child cries, but there is no mother to mother the child is alone. This doesn’t work, this is not natural. Which I wrote about before, the elaborate and powerful structure of denial the orphan ...
