Daytime Lovers: November 2008
http://daytimelovers.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
Listening to records in my living room. Sunday, November 30, 2008. Kenny Burrell - Out Of This World (Prestige, 1968). This session was originally released as Bluesy Burrell. On the Prestige sub-label Moodsville in 1962, featuring Coleman Hawkins on tenor saxophone. Considering there is little info to be found on this reissue, we'll have a look at the AMG review for the orginal release (minus the parts that concern the CD reissue). Review by Jim Todd. Have a listen and then peep the rest here. Tyrone Dav...

Listening to records in my living room. Wednesday, September 9, 2009. As of a while ago this blog won't be used very much, if at all. I'm continuing the theme from here - with some slight changes - over at daytimelovers.com. Drop by and check things out! There isn't much up just yet but I hope to get at some new records soon and also have some DJ pals dropping some mixes pretty soon. Should be good! Thanks to everyone that came here and said hello or whatever. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Doing It To Death.

Daytime Lovers: April 2008
http://daytimelovers.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html
Listening to records in my living room. Saturday, April 26, 2008. In the last few months since I got my new computer, I have been lurking music blogs pretty much constantly and I am truly amazed at the amount of them dedicated to rare soul, jazz, rock and whatever else. Yes, I am way behind. These people are doing high quality rips of records that are not cheap or easy to acquire, and posting them for anyone to take. Talk about generous! All your work is truly appreciated! Friday, April 25, 2008. I recor...

Listening to records in my living room. Tuesday, September 30, 2008. Sarah Vaughan - A Time In My Life (Mainstream, 1971). Here's a neat Sarah Vaughan record from the early seventies. It's mostly fairly uptempo but there's some mellow numbers too. That's the Way I've Always Heard It Should Be. Is I think my fave cut. Usually I want to put my favourite tune as the preview track but this time I'm going for a shorter track just for a taste. On Thinking It Over. 320k rip from my original Mainstream vinyl.

Daytime Lovers: December 2007
http://daytimelovers.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html
Listening to records in my living room. Monday, December 31, 2007. The Night Before New Years 2007. So it's New Years Eve. I don't really make resolutions or anything but I made this mix last night and had a real good time doing it. I thought maybe recording a bunch of my records and sharing them would be a good use of time in the coming year so I made this blog. I've always thought these things were pretty lame but I guess this could be a fun little project. ROOTS/LOVERS/DISCO/DUB - SPRING 2007. The Hep...

Daytime Lovers: Tyrone Davis - I Had It All The Time (Dakar, 1972)
http://daytimelovers.blogspot.com/2008/11/tyrone-davis-i-had-it-all-time-dakar.html
Listening to records in my living room. Friday, November 28, 2008. Tyrone Davis - I Had It All The Time (Dakar, 1972). For whatever reason, this record has been sitting in a pile since I got it. I think I maybe gave it a cursory listen the day it came home but didn't give it a fair shake. It's actually pretty good! There's no obvious hit that jumps out at you, though according to AMG, the title track was in fact a hit:. You can give it a tear here. November 29, 2008 at 2:03 PM. View my complete profile.
