Gardening For My Family: Blossom End Rot on Tomatoes

http://gardeningformyfamily.blogspot.com/2010/07/blossom-end-rot-on-tomatoes.html

Gardening For My Family. A daughter's journal of gardening in order to help provide food for her family. Friday, July 2, 2010. Blossom End Rot on Tomatoes. This year, the Better Boy tomatoes have blossom-end rot. Blossom-end rot is noticeable by a dark watery or soft brown spot on the bottom of the vegetable. It will commonly engulf the whole fruit which will fall off the vine. Peppers, tomatoes, squash, and watermelon are most commonly affected. Avoiding extra fertilizing helps with the pH levels. Gardening For My Family: Harvesting Dried Coriander

http://gardeningformyfamily.blogspot.com/2010/07/harvesting-dried-coriander.html

Gardening For My Family. A daughter's journal of gardening in order to help provide food for her family. Thursday, July 8, 2010. This week, we harvested some coriander. Coriander is ready when it turns brown. If it is still green, or not completely dry, it has a slightly bitter taste. The 100 ° weather certainly dried the herb! The complete plant usually is brown when the coriander is ready for harvest. Posted by Anna at. July 16, 2010 at 1:03 PM. The paper towel method is smart! Have you heard of them?

Gardening For My Family. A daughter's journal of gardening in order to help provide food for her family. Friday, January 22, 2010. Coffee Grounds and Coffee Tea. My parents drink coffee every morning. We have an excellent supply of used coffee grounds. If you do not drink coffee, Starbucks. Gives away their used grinds. If you asked, other coffee shops would probably save them for you. Posted by Anna at. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Welcome To My Garden! Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Farm Kids in Crocs.

Gardening For My Family. A daughter's journal of gardening in order to help provide food for her family. Monday, August 16, 2010. Zucchini is a type of summer squash. Titus 2 Joy: May 2010

http://titus2joy.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html

Wednesday, May 5, 2010. Mom, the Baby is Here! My son called early the morning of April 27 to say that Josiah had arrived! The labor was short, and the baby arrived weighing 9 pounds 12 ounces and was 23 inches long! My husband and I drove up with a meal and spent the next three days cooking meals, reading to the older children, and enjoying our new grandson. When the baby slept, mom slept- usually during the day! 3 Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. The ag...

Titus 2 Joy: June 2010

http://titus2joy.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html

Tuesday, June 29, 2010. Phoebe Elizabeth Winderweedle, my maternal grandmother known by her nickname "Bettie", was one of 12 children- six boys and six girls. I never knew her, but she has always been a vivid person in my thoughts, since I was named for her. I have always been called Bettie. When my parents married, and after I was born, they went to Brazil as Presbyterian missionaries and my mother never saw her mom again. My dad was one of three children, and my mother was one of eleven. When D...Becau...

Titus 2 Joy: Communication Woes

http://titus2joy.blogspot.com/2011/05/communication-woes.html

Monday, May 16, 2011. Amos 3:3 Can two walk together, except they be agreed? Many of us have experienced times when true communication seems impossible and frustrating. Take for example, discussions about abortion, where opposite sides try to claim the higher ground in defending a "woman's rights." Though both sides claim to be championing what is best for the mother, when the pro-life side brings in biblical arguments, the pro-abortion side refuses to accept any religious stance. My husband's definition...

Titus 2 Joy: April 2010

http://titus2joy.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html

Saturday, April 10, 2010. Lady in Waiting Again! And wonder- should I go ahead and soak my bread to make tomorrow? What if the call comes and I am in the middle of making bread? Do we have time to plant the windbreak trees we bought the other day? We have not finished getting the garden beds readied for planting- we should have already planted the beets and Swiss chard! The words from Ecclesiastes 9:10 come to mind:. Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might;. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Tuesday, April 26, 2011. A Midwifery Student's Paper. My Calling, My Heart. Growing up, I was the little girl who played with dolls. Most of my friends loved toy horses or Barbies but I cared more about taking care of my babies. Consequently, whenever I saw a real baby, I was severely interested and fascinated. I remember thinking they were so adorable and sweet and innocent. It horrified me when they cried and I wanted to comfort them. And the culture in which I lived had always told me. Titus 2 Joy: August 2011

http://titus2joy.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html

Tuesday, August 30, 2011. Feeling Like Fine China. Lately I have been feeling some sadness at growing older. After living a very active life for over sixty years, emotions similar to “empty nest syndrome” have been creeping in. Nothing really desperate, mind you, just thoughts like: “Is this all there is to life at this age? Why am I already feeling lonely, as if I were truly alone, as when a spouse dies? When we finally settled down long enough, my husband told me that whatever of our possessions we did...

Tuesday, December 11, 2012. The Importance of Being Earnest. The Importance of Being Earnest, A Trivial Comedy for Serious People. Wilde's most enduringly popular play. When I was a young mother, I was distressed when one of the ladies in the church we were attending said she and her husband did not teach their children the Bible because they wanted their children to discover Christianity for themselves! That was 40 years ago! How many families in how many churches believe the same thing? Where were and ...
