Garden Safari

My garden safari began about 2 years ago with the idea of starting a garden. Originally, my goal was to grow vegetables. That goal quickly became growing organic vegetables. Now my goal is to not only grow organic vegetables, but to introduce as much biodiversity in my landscape. To achieve this goal I will be replacing "lawn" with fruit trees, perrenials, native plants and shrubs. This blog will document my backyard safari as it unfolds. I hope you enjoy it.

Garden Safari: Garden Update

http://gardensafari.blogspot.com/2011/05/garden-update.html

Wednesday, May 18, 2011. First post in a while and a lot has happened. I had a great Fall/Winter crop. Some of the highlights were broccoli, cauliflower, collard greens, carrots, and cabbage. Just as an FYI.if you click over on the right on images there are a lot more pictures. I plan to update the pictures more regularly if you want to check them out. Here are my Seminole squash vines. These actually form small pumpkins. The leaves add a nice touch to the landscape. Green bean plot and harvest pics.

Garden Safari: July 2010

http://gardensafari.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html

Wednesday, July 21, 2010. Recently, we have received quite a bit of rain. The purple hull peas are looking great. I can't wait to get fresh peas. My family absolutely love these! They are rather expensive in the store or farmer's market at $4.99 to $5.99 a pound and usually aren't organic. These are the same two areas I got over 40 pounds of Derby green beans earlier this year. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Images - Click and View. I Dig My Garden Forums.
