The Larsens: Um, hello giraffes!
http://satrickah.blogspot.com/2012/08/um-hello-giraffes.html
Tuesday, August 14, 2012. Um, hello giraffes! So we touch down in Nairobi, pass through customs, drive across town and show up to Giraffe Manor with average expectations. I mean, sure, the website photos were great - but how realistic can it really be? Um Yeah. This realistic. Oh, not enough for you? Ok, how about this one. I have lost my mind and kissed a Giraffe! There were warthogs all over the property. Literally the funniest animal I have ever seen. I can't get "Hakuna Matata" out of my head. Balgud...

Friday, June 22, 2012. Campi Ya Kanzi - test, no photos. Our first bush camp was an Eco-lodge on 400 square miles of private Maasai land in southern Kenya (right at the border of Tanzania, about 26 miles from Mt. Kilimanjaro, so we were able to get some amazing views of the snow-topped peaks! It's at the base of the Chyulu Hills ("spotted hills" in Maasai) which are the youngest volcanic hills in the world. It was so lush and green - ferns and moss everywhere. Apparently these are some of the last re...

The Larsens: July 2011
http://satrickah.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Tuesday, July 26, 2011. Where we eat dinner each night. You better believe amanda and I spent a full day in Chennai tracking down one of these tents to bring home as a souvenir). Serving up dinner on banana leaf plates. The cold water dispenser. (especially appreciated after play time! Where the kids eat their meals (no silverware, just hands! Squatters and bucket showers. Rising Star lawn mower. The Elephant house (where we stayed). Tuesday, July 26, 2011. Sunday, July 24, 2011. As we headed into Delhi,...

Friday, August 26, 2011. At dinner each night at Rising Star, we review our "highs and lows" from that day. Some of mine from the two weeks.(kicking myself for not writing them down each day). High: Watching Mandy and Kim kick butt at construction. Low: The stereotypes Indian men have about female capabilities. High: spending time in the colony and watching the patients serve one another. Low: having so much going on in my personal life that I'm having a hard time staying "in the moment". Education was b...

The Larsens: November 2010
http://satrickah.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
Friday, November 5, 2010. Leaving, On a Jet Plane. I would just like to point out that this post is made possible by In-Flight WiFi. I'm miffed when the in-flight Wifi isn't working. I complain when the power outlet under my seat doesn't work properly. A year ago, I was content if I got a TV, let alone internet and an outlet to charge my laptop. If my room at the Westin isn't big enough, or on the "Preferred Guest" floor, I'm irked. Excuse me, where's the bath robe? What's happening to me?

The Larsens: When in London...
http://satrickah.blogspot.com/2012/08/when-in-london.html
Tuesday, August 14, 2012. We had a relatively long layover in London before our trip to Kenya - not long enough to do anything cultural, but plenty long enough to spend a few hours doing what a Cowan does best! Is it wrong that my favorite place in London might just be the Harrods food hall? Several "lunches" and a few treats later, we were on our way to Nairobi! Location: Harrods, London. Tuesday, August 14, 2012. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Um, hello giraffes! Why not just pop on over to Italy?

The Larsens: May 2010
http://satrickah.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
Wednesday, May 19, 2010. While in Hawaii, we decided to start a tradition of taking family portraits. So sad Amanda wasn't there, but I think this upcoming year we'll all finally be together! I honestly was not thrilled about everyone wearing white/denim because I think it's kind of cliche, but in the end I think everyone looks great. So I guess I should shut up :). Here's a sampling of my personal favorites. Sorry for the water marks, we didn't get digital files which is totally obnoxious. This was also...

The Larsens: May 2011
http://satrickah.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Wednesday, May 11, 2011. Looks like somebody needs to learn how to deal with curveballs over here. I had lots of great plans for our latest move to so cal. So many. But Patrick got in to the University of Texas yesterday. That's not in California, folks. But it is in Austin! And by golly if I have to move to Texas, that's the one place I'm excited to move to. Never thought I'd call myself a texan. Still praying for a usc acceptance though. Admissions gods, I'd be real into that). Wednesday, May 11, 2011.
