fooditude: Grapefruit Rosemary Sorbet
http://fooditudeblog.blogspot.com/2009/02/grapefruit-rosemary-sorbet.html
Thursday, February 19, 2009. I am the fortunate recipient of a hand-me-down Cuisinart ice cream/sorbet machine that friends of mine didn't want and had almost never used. So I decided to invite those friends to dinner and serve them the first sorbet ever made in the machine. The flavor I settled on is grapefruit and rosemary. This may sound strange at first, but it really works: original, fresh, palate-cleansing, intensely aromatic, bitter-sweet, herbaceous, and just plain taste-bud-exploding. Let it run...

fooditude: DAMON BAEHREL, 2nd course.
http://fooditudeblog.blogspot.com/2012/08/damon-baehrel-2nd-course.html
Sunday, August 5, 2012. DAMON BAEHREL, 2nd course. As I was saying! The next course from chef Damon Baehrel was really many mini-dishes in one, arrayed in a beautiful oval on a gorgeous plate (Baehrel joked that his accountant told him he could have either a sports car, or his exquisite set of dishes). Clockwise from top center, is a radish with a sauce of flax seed oil, red pepper and sorrel vinegar, poised atop a nasturtium leaf. The ball of cheese is a three-week-old ch. fooditude: Faux Philip at ESCA
http://fooditudeblog.blogspot.com/2010/09/faux-philip-at-esca.html
Sunday, September 26, 2010. Faux Philip at ESCA. I live near Esca, a high-end restaurant specializing in southern Italian seafood. For years I've passed by, figuring I'd go in there one day when the occasion arose. Well, finally it did: my dad's birthday. Was the actor preparing for a role as a waiter? Could it really be him? You can only tell the two apart because one of them is busy peeling back fish skin. I was quite disappointed when faux Philip took FOREVER to fillet my mom's pink snapper, becau...

The table is very important, Mr. Marzovilla explained as we sat around one at his restaurant early Sunday evening with our five collective children. It’s about nutrition, it’s about family; you go right down the line. And the children’s menu is about the opposite it’s about making it quick, making it easy, and moving on. Posted at 10:33 AM. Tuesday, June 23, 2015. One of the most astonishing questions I’ve been asked lately is, “Where do you want us to put the porta-potty? 8220;I don’t want you to put a porta-potty anywhere,” I answered. And then, “What porta-potty.”. 8220;Well,” Charlie said, rolling his eyes toward the porta-potty truck that I’d just noticed out on the street, “There are five men here ,. And nature calls, or at least it may. Unless you want them using YOUR bathroom.”. You have a.”. 8220;Porta-potty,” I supply. Connectivit...

Monday, December 29, 2014. I can scarcely read. Without wanting to share with you whatever it is he’s talking about that day. But then you might just as well read DavidLebovitz.com. Yourself instead of tuning into Twice Bitten every other Tuesday. I made it and Leo thought it was dreamy, but I found a few things wrong with my execution of it. Another thing that David did, recently, was to print another cook’s adaptation of a recipe from David’s book, My Paris Kitchen,. It sounded wonderful to me and so I...

Tuesday, September 01, 2015. Okay, friends and neighbors, readers and scoffers, I am just going to start posting columns from back when I stopped posting them, which I think was in August, and if you are notified by email or something more esoteric, and you don't want to be bothered with a whole boatload of notices and columns, well, just ignore them. At your own peril, of course. You might miss something. I have been having more and more fun with them, so I do hope you keep reading. All my best,. One wo...
