Minerva #1 Mine, Cave-in-Rock, Hardin Co., Illinois, USA. 伝説のイリノイ州ケイヴ・イン・ロック、ミネルヴァ鉱山のフローライト（蛍石）。 世界でも有数のフローライトの産地であるケイヴ・イン・ロックには、かつて数多くの鉱山が存在した。 明るいパープルからオレンジ色が見え隠れする面白い標本で、一部にクラックが入ってしまっているために、一桁お安くなっていた。 写真の石も、直射日光で撮影したため明るい色合いに見えるが、一見すると暗い。 この標本の持つ明暗に、まだ見ぬイリノイの街や歴史、人々の行き交うさまを思う。 日のあたる場所に置いたために、なにか別のモノに変身してしまい、衝撃を受けたことが数回ある。 紫だったアメジストがミルキークォーツに変わり、驚いた方はおられるかもしれないが、これも同様の現象。 鉱物の退色や変色は、その色合いの原因が、カラーセンターによる発色（他色/仮色）である場合に起きるとされる。 日光浴・日光による浄化を避ける" と記載のあるパワーストーンに同じ。 涼しい風を運んできそうな、今...
