Timezones, Asterisk and Cisco IP phones – CROESNET.EU. Timezones, Asterisk and Cisco IP phones. Finally I managed to get my Cisco 7941 phones to display the correct time. Sharing my problem and fix-description on this website to assist others who are experiencing the same thing. I had to spend a few hours finding the root-cause and a fix. Despite having the correct timezone defined in the xml config-file (see below), the phone always showed the time with a 3 hours offset. Command, and both the date.

7941/7961 dialplan – CROESNET.EU. After a bit of googling, I managed to find a way to reduce the annoying delay when dialing from on of the 7941 phones in my network. Where the 7960’s immediatly send the outgoing call after pushing the # key, I had a long delay on the 7941 phones. I found the solution in changing the dialplan file. Using the below code did the trick. Pushing # sends the dialstring immediatly. Just waiting results in the call being placed 4 seconds after pushing the last button.

Fun – CROESNET.EU. We waren met drie in het mandje, twee piloten en ik. Veel meer plaats is er ook niet, hoewel er theoretisch plaatst zou zijn voor 4 mensen. In de winter met allemaal dikke jassen zou dit. Toch wel erg krap zijn geweest. Na afloop was er nog een officiele ceremonie, waarbij ik gedoopt werd, en de adelijke titel van graaf ontving. Dit is een grappig iets, met een interessante geschiedenis. Hierover zal ik nog wat deatils zoeken. Meer foto’s zijn te vinden in het familie fotoalbum.

Being unhappy with the limited functionality offered by this model of NAS, and knowing it is based on the Gemini chip I tried to upload an alternative firmware. That was a mistake – it no longer boots up. Instead, 20 seconds after power-on it sounds a very loud beep and that’s it. It seems bricked. 🙁. Anyone who knows how to unbrick this NAS?
