Adventures in Southern Genealogy

Adventures in Southern Genealogy. Oh I wish I was in the Land of Cotton. So this is a feeling unlike any I have ever experienced - for the very first time, we have gotten to the point of having ordinance cards prepared so we can do temple work for our ancestors. Honestly, it is incredible, and I know that it will only be that much better when we actually take the names to the temple to do the work! 160;My heart breaks for my great grandmother as I think of how her heart must have broken when he died.

Adventures in Southern Genealogy: Good Golly, Miss Mollie!

http://www.genealogygirls.blogspot.com/2009/01/good-golly-miss-mollie.html

Adventures in Southern Genealogy. Oh I wish I was in the Land of Cotton. Good Golly, Miss Mollie! I love doing family history research and I love it even more when I actually find something.  This is my great great grandmother, Mollie.  That's all we knew.  Until Thursday. 160;This was a challenge and for years Julie and I have been searching for her in vain.  . 160;Within a few hours we had a breakthrough on Mollie. 160;Maybe she was especially proud of being an Arrington? What a great blog. What wo...

Adventures in Southern Genealogy: A Delightful Detour

http://www.genealogygirls.blogspot.com/2009/01/delicious-detour.html

Adventures in Southern Genealogy. Oh I wish I was in the Land of Cotton. On our journey yesterday, we stumbled across this little gem.  Good thing Julie watches the road, especially since she was driving! 160;We saw this sign on Hwy 24 and immediately turned around.  The sign led us down a narrow dirt road lined with trees which were draped in Spanish moss.  It doesn't get much eerier.  I LOVE the South! I'm so glad we stopped.  I wish we had seen more things like this along the way!

Adventures in Southern Genealogy: Let's Set the Record Straight

http://www.genealogygirls.blogspot.com/2009/01/lets-set-record-straight.html

Adventures in Southern Genealogy. Oh I wish I was in the Land of Cotton. Let's Set the Record Straight. Yesterday was a huge day for family history.  For starters, Julie, Joseph, and I headed out in search of the fabled Davis Family cemetery.  We were confident we could find it as we had directions from two uncles, an aunt, and our mother.  Of course, nobody bothered to mention which way we were to turn onto 319.  Well, duh.  You go right! Oh, ok.  That makes everything crystal clear!

Adventures in Southern Genealogy: The Davis Family Cemetery

http://www.genealogygirls.blogspot.com/2009/01/davis-family-cemetery.html

Adventures in Southern Genealogy. Oh I wish I was in the Land of Cotton. The Davis Family Cemetery. Visiting the Revolutionary War cemetery was cool, but visiting the Davis Family cemetery was awesome.  I've been reading about these people for years and searching for them in old censuses and other records, but it was something totally different to be standing there at their graves.  It just made them more real to me.   . My great great grandfather, Melton Ervin Davis. His wife, Trudie Greenway.

Cox Family: January 2011

http://suttoncoxfamily.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html

Saturday, January 22, 2011. Plowing ON Summit Lake. Here are some pictures from the time we spent at my sister's house just after Christmas. She recently acquired an ATV with snowplow attachment so we had fun plowing the snow off the ice on Summit Lake so that we could go ice skating. Fred didn't try driving the ATV - he used a shovel to clear the ice. Matt getting instructions from Sue. Pat ready to go! Watch out for Dan! Nanci ready to plow. View from the street looking onto the lake.

I <3 Adam: May 2013

http://mellovesadam.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html

Wednesday, May 1, 2013. Instant messaging was a big part of how Adam and I started to get to know one another before we officially began dating. We used to IM while we were sitting right next to each other at work or til the wee hours of the morning. And very fortunately for me, some of the conversations were saved! Here are a couple of exchanges from just before we started dating that cause me to smile uncontrollably. Do you ever feel like your face just can't smile as big as you want it to? Krispie604:...

I <3 Adam: Reunion

http://mellovesadam.blogspot.com/2011/04/reunion.html

Wednesday, April 27, 2011. One day, while Adam and I were engaged, I was meeting up with him on campus, in the parking lot by the HFAC and the WSC. I'm not sure if it was the first time we were meeting that day or not, but I"m sure it had been less than 24 hours since we had last seen each other. Personally, I can't wait. How beautiful. I teared up just reading about it :). April 28, 2011 at 12:36 PM. I can picture this in my head, easily. theres never been a romance like yours. July 13, 2011 at 1:00 PM.

http://suttoncoxfamily.blogspot.com/2014/02/adams-day-2014.html

Thursday, February 20, 2014. As I think about Adam today, on the 31st anniversary of his birth, I wanted to share this photo with you. Unfortunately I don't remember much about Adam's 5th birthday celebration but it looks like we were having a great time. I do know this was when we lived at Fort Gordon, Georgia. I can tell the cake was a clown cake. Adam loves clowns! Adam on the left and Jonathan on the right. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The Dinner Bell's Ringing - Join Us at the Table!

I <3 Adam: Zion

http://mellovesadam.blogspot.com/2013/05/zion.html

Wednesday, May 1, 2013. Editor's note: I can't believe I let my history trail off and just end back then. There's still so much to tell! He had to stop the car so he could give me a hug and words of encouragement. I am always amazed at how tender and loving he is. I felt so much better by the time we got to Zion. We were of course sad to be without the others but the park was so beautiful! But inside the canyons of the park it was perfect. We had a wonderful time! I 3 Mel and Adam! May 1, 2013 at 5:25 PM.
