Madrid was called Madrid since moorish people built a wall called Majerit. It is not even a spanish word but with a spanish acent, they changed it to Madrid. It has had a lot of problems with reconquist in the capital. Finally, everything became as normal as always and now times, Madrid is still the capital of the country.
