Tell the learners to work in pairs or small groups and brainstorm the words they think of when they think of success. Ask them to focus on what makes a person a success. All posts by claireabigailhart. What did you have for breakfast? March 17, 2014. Here s a simple warmer that never fails to get learners talking: Ask them to work with a partner or in a small group and say what they had for breakfast that morning. Tell them that it s OK if they didn t have anything for breakfast, they can tell their partner that instead and perhaps also explain why that was (if they feel comfortable sharing that). I drink a coffee every morning when I get up. If there is a picture of bre...

Jane is the only student who I teach online (by skype) and she keeps on posting her ideas and reflections on many interesting topics. One of the them is reflection on our English classes. So, it’s great, I suppose! Jane, thanks for inspiration and God bless you in your striving for excellence in your learning process.

The Business English Experience. A forum for presenting and exchanging experiences, ideas and lessons for business English. The perfect (company) Christmas. Is a pretty exhausting time in the business world, isn’t it? Most organisations in Germany pay their staff a bonus at Christmas, very often in the form of a thirteenth month’s salary. This is part of their contract when they begin their new job. Not bad, huh? December to 7 January. As in many cultures, this holiday period is a cause for celebration a...

The Business English Experience. A forum for presenting and exchanging experiences, ideas and lessons for business English. How dealing with conflict led me to success. So what kind of conflict are we talking about? Lack of resources, a breakdown in interpersonal relations, a clash of interests and cultural differences are but a few of the reasons why colleagues can find themselves in a dispute. A couple of weeks after working on this topic, I noticed that BESIG. What did I learn from this experience?

Travel, learn, make friends. Yesterday after reading a lovely post by Sandy Millin with wonderful pictures of the Crimea. That I love soooo much I decided to post about my favourite place of visiting, but to add some self-development flavor and somehow things connected to language learning. And here goes. Today my post is not related to ELT, but who told I was going to post only about those things? Have a nice weekend and thanks for reading! An activity for drilling irregular verbs. https://annazernova.wordpress.com/2015/07/24/an-activity-for-drilling-irregular-verbs

An activity for drilling irregular verbs. Posted in Teaching Reflection. When my students used to study irregular verbs, I always started my lessons with asking them to repeat after me. After a chat with my Curriculum Manager (we were discussing new games with irregular verbs among other things) and having told her about my idea to realize my favourite idea, I suddenly thought about trying something new and just watch how it would work? Tell me, I’ll forget. Show me, I’ll remember. The next speaking game.

https://annazernova.wordpress.com/2015/07/21/to-run-for-running

To run for running…. Posted in Teaching Reflection. I’d like to begin with a story. Once upon a time the Russian sportsmen found out that in Tibet there was a monastery where during one religious festival the monks used to run about 80 km. Sportsmen became interested in this achievement and sent their people to learn from the experience. The monks were asked to demonstrate their art. At first, Tibetans did not understand what the Russians wanted from them. Why run when there s no festival? So, these ques...

I would like to thank my Curriculum Manager Olga Sergeeva for her expert advice and encouragement throughout this challenging idea to start posting in my own blog. Your support in this project is extraordinary. This blog would have been impossible without your inspiring me while having conversations and discussions. Thanks to my parents as well, Vasiliy and Valentina Zernovs. Your encouragement when the times got rough is much appreicated and duly noted. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here.

8220;Enséñame” has become my everyday prayer and mantra. I remember times of trouble when I needed advice and support and I was sure I was able to get everything I needed, because someone would be with me and would show me, and would teach me…. I want to ask readers not to perceive this word as my wish to teach everybody. I just can not do it and, honestly, I do not strive for it. “Enséñame” still works for me as a prayer. I want to be taught and I want to be shown the way. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.
