Dead Man Dancing

Wednesday, February 20, 2013. Back in the Saddle. I’m back. It’s been a long process, but, as the saying goes, “anything worth anything takes a while.” If that is true, my life thus far must be priceless! As most of you know, in late January, I mad the eastward transition from Changsha, China back to Seattle. Upon reflection, it was a lot harder coming in this. Direction than it was going in that. Direction. As to the “why,” I’m still working that one out. So…what’s next? Lots of new art! Painters by Joh...

Dead Man Dancing: July 2008

http://giadrosich.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html

Friday, July 25, 2008. Sitting behind a table at conventions always gives rise to the following question: "Where do you get your ideas from? To which, in a moment of stunning insight and absolute clarity I reply, "Ummmm…". Now, in all honesty, it probably isn’t that. Hard of a question, but I falter when I consider all the parameters involved, because each piece has its own genesis. It really depends. That’s the short answer. The long answer is, well, a little more complicated. Inspiration ...Learn to se...

Dead Man Dancing: Three Sketches

http://giadrosich.blogspot.com/2009/06/three-sketches.html

Tuesday, June 2, 2009. I've been doing a lot of conceptual work lately, because most of my canvas and paints are packed up until August. The first and last are conceptual sketches and will have to be developed further, while the second is a finished pencil sketch currently being colored in Photoshop CS:. I love the Old Kingdom series by Garth Nix, and have done several of the characters from the books. This is a sketch of the main character. More work appearing soon. September 23, 2009 at 8:28 AM.

Dead Man Dancing: Up and Dancing

http://giadrosich.blogspot.com/2008/06/up-and-dancing.html

Tuesday, June 24, 2008. Good grief, not. We would be here, like, forever. First things first. This is a blog about art (mine and others), with an occasional diversion into the wacky world of global culture. I have an ongoing fascination with the people, things, and places that attain the coveted designation of "popular," as well as those which fall by the wayside. Below is my first offering. Originally brushed in 1998, The Storyteller. Was done for Imagine Roleplaying. June 26, 2008 at 1:28 PM. Watermark...

Dead Man Dancing: Snow. Give Me Snow

http://giadrosich.blogspot.com/2008/12/snow-give-me-snow.html

Monday, December 29, 2008. Snow Give Me Snow. Lots going on, which I'll be elaborating on in the near future. This is, after all, an art blog, so regular updates will be coming in 2009, even if it is only a sketch or two. Here are some of the highlights: I'm currently working on two book projects. The first is an illustrated edition of 20 original short stories with accompanying illustrations. The stories range from being set in the modern day to fantasy. How all of these will play out in the mix remains...

A Browncoat's Blog: March 2012

http://browncoatblog.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html

Monday, March 12, 2012. When City Dwellers Try and Plant Things. Or attempt to plant things. So me and Josh plan to grow our own veggies in our new apartment place. The only problem is we have only a balcony to grow things in, so it will be all container growing. Which is fine for what we want to do. So we thought about doing peanuts too, but then we debated on the way home how those even grow, are they on a vine or a bush? Apparently they grow underground. And are they fruit or veggie? Faced with a wall...

A Browncoat's Blog: The Soul Screams for Internet

http://browncoatblog.blogspot.com/2012/04/soul-screams-for-internet.html

Thursday, April 05, 2012. The Soul Screams for Internet. In which we have been reduced to visiting McDonald's for internet. Thank goodness they have free wifi though. We planted our peas and carrots yesterday. They have not grown yet, it's very exciting. We're watching them very carefully and making sure the birds are not interested in them. My Helmeroc King stitching is going well, not having internet helps with getting things done for sure. But I want my internet back. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

A Browncoat's Blog: Life Is A Whirl

http://browncoatblog.blogspot.com/2010/12/life-is-whirl.html

Tuesday, December 14, 2010. Life Is A Whirl. As I sit here amongst the sea of boxes and things.I look back on my life and think. What was I thinking? I wasn't. Just float through, sailing on, thinking it's gonna fix itself. Life doesn't work that way. Stable environment, a chance to work and save money. Be with my mother. Or, be with someone I love dearly, have a little bit of harder life, but do it on my own. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Memorable Browncoat Blog Moments. The Infamous Barney Story.

http://browncoatblog.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html

Sunday, April 15, 2012. The Giant Storm that Destroyed the City Dweller's Dreams and General Scales. Not that the plants were growing anyway. Two weeks and not a bit of movement. So the storm that came through last night dumped a truckload of water onto our pots, so we had to dump them, drain out the dirt and start again. Mixed in with the dirt a few of the peas had sprouted, but nothing terribly spectacular, and no leaves or anything, just one long root. On better news though, I have a nice bonus coming...

Friday, May 09, 2008. The Happiest McDonald's Customer. Ever. You can take that bisuit and shove it where the sun don't shine.". Thank you sir, I'll do that! It was about the middle of breakfast rush at McDonald's when I served him with a smile on my face. A forced smile, but a smile nonetheless. Here at McDonalds there are three kind of people. Happy people, rushed people, and the downright unbearable people who are like that anyway and you shouldn't take it personally. Or so they say, anyway. She was p...

A Browncoat's Blog: Barney is a dinosaur...

http://browncoatblog.blogspot.com/2007/03/barney-is-dinosaur.html

Wednesday, March 28, 2007. Barney is a dinosaur. This is a true story. I repeat: This is a TRUE story. I am not making this up. A person can't make up this kind of story. At all. Ask any person in the world to make up this kind of story, and you won't get it. Ask my mom; this really happened. It happened when I was five years old. That is how horrible the experience was. You ready for this? And Barney. Barney was there too. I remember. So, eventually, after saying hi to Barney and Tony the Tiger (who was...

Let's Play Skyrim (With Mods)

Taking time to enjoy the sights of Skyrim while scraping out a living. Wednesday, October 15, 2014. Part 27: What is a Dragonborn to Do? Riverwood was quiet when I arrived. I walked in slowly, lost in my thoughts. Had I become what I hated most? Someone who kills without regard to another's family? I patted the faithful horse on the shoulder. His skin jumped at my touch, but he settled down once he realized he enjoyed the petting. "What to do, old boy? I remembered the Greybeards words to me. Retriev...
