Scaffolding: Or How I Learned to Stop Being a Know-It-All and Take Advice from My 20-Something Son by Ginger Moran. July 20, 2015. I was a typical child of Depression-era parents? Left to fend for myself as long as I didn? T bring unwanted attention to my respectable, Southern family. Black Brook Culvert, Charnwood Forest Canal. Something told me that my parents, who were good-hearted, well-educated people who had a very strong sense of family, wouldn? T that they didn? All of which worked out quite well?

Oct 26, 2016. Between the page I am able to surrender my will to a higher source. It is my prayer, my ultimate connection with God. I write because I’ve always written. From my diary in fourth grade with my neat Catholic school penmanship, to the pen pal letters that traveled across the country to kids I only knew threw the written word but loved. Stories and characters won’t leave me alone and I welcome them everywhere. On October 26, 2016 at 12:39 pm. Thank you for sharing your gift! I said this was my...

I have known many, many friends who find this time of year oppressive because of the lack of light; ironically, the two who were the most disturbed by it each told me they actually looked forward to the solstice, because it meant that from this point, the light was coming back once we’ve rounded the 21. The days will be getting longer again. So much...

To say that Lauren’s work is ‘magic’ is not a metaphor or an exaggeration or a dramatization. There’s no other word I can use to describe what happened to me while we worked together. I hope other people whose life could also be magic-ified by Lauren’s coaching don’t turn away because of self-doubt and anxiety around the word ‘creative visionary’. Like, “I don’t think I am one! In ways that will blow your mind.” Simone S. 8220;When I lost my job unexpectedly earlier this year, Lauren helped me think abou...

A B Westrick, author. In love with the process of writing…. Get a flow going. July 29, 2016. Last month I posted about endings, then tried my own suggestion: I wrote a possible final chapter. Once I had it, of course I had to write the scene that would come immediately before it. Then I wrote the scene before. One, and on back, scene by scene, until my ending scenes connected with the chapters I’d written from the beginning. I had a complete first draft. Finally! My favorite pen is the uni-ball 0.7MM.

It’s been a long time without you, my friend. September 10, 2016. Somebody asked me what I usually do on 9-11, and while I don’t really have any rituals, writing here has become a tradition of sorts. It helps me. It’s therapeutic and it’s important. I believe that 9-11 enters my mind in some way most days certainly more often than not. And while the visceral memories fade during the year, on the anniversary they return. My coworkers, gathered around a live news feed, one in tears because her husband had ...
