Pada tahun 1934 datanglah mbah Singorejo dari Singosari bersama tiga rekannya, babat alas (membuka hutan) untuk dibuat lading, sawah dan untuk lahan rumah. Salah satu rekan mbah Singorejo bernama Darimah dan nama Giripurno diambil dari nama kerajaan Singosari “Meduran Ilang Sampurnane” dan Giri. Artinya Gunung sedangkan Purno.
