What I’ve Learned aka I’m not a first-year teacher anymore!
http://lifeindevelopment.net/2010/06/21/what-ive-learned-aka-im-not-a-first-year-teacher-anymore
June 21, 2010. What I’ve Learned aka I’m not a first-year teacher anymore! 8211; Kids lose EVERYTHING. Staple things to their faces…or just teach them to be organized before doing anything else. 8211; There will always be one more thing to do. At some point, you just have to accept that, stop working, and go buy shoes. 8211; Grading sucks. 8211; Kids get annoyed when you take six weeks to grade an essay that took them three weeks to write. 8211; Make time for students before and after school, even if you...

Life (via Vegas!) here I come!
http://lifeindevelopment.net/2009/06/04/life-via-vegas-here-i-come
June 4, 2009. Well, here I am, all packed and ready to board my flight to Vegas in the morning. It’s weird. Last December, coming home to live for the semester instead of staying in Boston seemed like the worst thing in the world. I’d miss my friends. I’d miss “senior year.” I’d be bored. I’d feel useless. I wouldn’t accomplish anything. It’s insane how much is about to happen. I think I need to take it one week at a time or else I’ll have a panic attack. 8212;————-. Lucky to have you guys as my parents.

Archives for October 2013. October 13, 2013. The Greatness and Gratitude Situation. So the ladies of Elevate. Sounds odd, but I think, pretty genius. So I’ve been trying to keep up my gratitude practice of writing down what I am grateful for each night, but I’m also trying to document those things on instagram. Both to help me see what is great about my life and to keep up my creative practice! So now, I present to you, my pretty great week (well, a little more than a week, as I started this post a coupl...

Archives for September 2013. September 29, 2013. The Triumphant Return Situation (Sort Of…Well, There’s a Poem, so…). 8220;The season for longing is over –. Stop saying you can’t. Or its hard,. Or there’s no place for me. Get clear on what you want and make it happen. And if you can’t make it happen,. Know it will come, and it will happen in time. When it needs to. Soak in the wonderfulness of now. Because it will never be again. And even when you get all the things you want,. There will be parts of now.

A (ridiculously long) Ode to Camp
http://lifeindevelopment.net/2008/05/27/a-ridiculously-long-ode-to-camp
May 27, 2008. A (ridiculously long) Ode to Camp. An attempt to show spirit circle in all its glory). So I excitedly accepted a position as a general counselor for the summer of ’06. When I got to camp for the first time, my excitement deflated a bit. Basically everyone who worked there had been attending slash working at camp for most of their lives. People who were new like me were generally foreign staff. I got asked about 10 times a day “So, why are you here? Who I inspired to blog. Score! I could not...

“It’s just a room with overpriced alcohol.”
http://lifeindevelopment.net/2008/09/20/its-just-a-room-with-overpriced-alcohol
September 20, 2008. 8220;It’s just a room with overpriced alcohol.”. Once we finally got on the T (for our half an hour ride across town. Blerg.), I was so sick of waiting. I needed this bar to be awesome to justify putting on tight pants instead of pajamas. When we got to the bar, we found Jillian’s friend and walked over. There were two lines outside (. So we waited. And waited. The line moved every half hour until we were only one person from the front of the line. Success! This whole time, HUNDREDS o...

January 29, 2009. The Final Aussie Recap. In an attempt to counteract my general laziness of late, I’m going to try to cram the rest of my Australia trip into one post, or I fear it will never be recorded for posterity. This is going to be epic. Don’t say you weren’t warned. To read my first two recaps click on over to here. After Sydney, we headed down to Sarah’s parent’s beach house on the Mornington Peninsula. (It’s like Cape Cod for Australians! The rest of the Christmas and Boxing Day was a blur of ...

The Cruise Situation
http://lifeindevelopment.net/2012/01/03/the-cruise-situation
January 3, 2012. For this winter break, my family decided that we should go on a family cruise! I love my family enough that the idea of spending a week essentially trapped on a boat with them sounded lovely, so it was on! We had a wonderul and wonderfully hilarious at times time on said boat trip, and I learned a number of lessons along the way that I thought I would pass onto you potential future cruisers:. 1) The Buffet is the soul-sucking worst. 2) People like terrible entertainment. Like standing ro...
