art in red wagons: April 2015

Art in red wagons. Saturday, April 18, 2015. Aluminum can flowers (tutorial). I'm always on the lookout for new ways to recycle in my art. Here's a fun way to reuse aluminum cans to make "drought resistant flowers." You can't kill them, I promise! Start with a colorful can. Cut off the top. This is surprisingly easy to do with your "good" pair of "crap designated" scissors - mine are old Fiskars). Cut the sides of the can into 16 or so spokes. I start with 4ths, then 8ths, then 16ths). This is the FRONT:.

art in red wagons: making faces
http://artinredwagons.blogspot.com/2015/05/making-faces.html
Art in red wagons. Monday, May 4, 2015. I've been making garden fairies and needed some good faces - let me show you what I learned . I began with magazine pictures. And used this old template I have for making circles:. I use the circle to crop in REALLY close on the features (this is good old Martha). Cropping super close is what gives you the PERFECT sun or moon face. I cut away all the non-essential stuff like ears, hair, neck, forehead, chin. The closer in you crop, the more moonlike it comes out.

http://artinredwagons.blogspot.com/2015/03/word-sieve.html

I keep it simple (and small). Using cut up book covers as a foundation. I pretty it up with a painted border. And when I'm done. I have a little something to go on when someone says, "what do you think? It's not that I didn't know what I think,. It's that I didn't know how to say it. He had such confidence. Corrine a...

art in red wagons: October 2014
http://artinredwagons.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Art in red wagons. Friday, October 31, 2014. The next indicated step. So, last blog post, I showed you my 2" pocket poems in progress. I'd been puzzling over what to do to the backs - and in the end the obvious answer was marbled paper. Besides, it's the traditional backing for vintage book covers (alas, these books were not vintage enough). Process #1 (for use with alcohol inks). Copy paper or construction paper. Process #2 (for use with water base ink or paint). Shaving cream (not the gel kind). Squirt...

The toll on the physical body is great when it grows disconnected from original source. our tiny fractals are in the wilderness when we come down here. though we are powerful, we have to call home. we are free to use the galaxy spiral if we please! We are free to dig deep into this earth and generate a galaxy of love. let's! As of last year, Ive started cultivating my own green thumb. While living in apartments, has made it less easy to ...
