Why I Run | Chasing Pavements
https://glutenfreecarbs.wordpress.com/why-i-run
Running on gluten-free carbs…. 8220;We run, not because we think it is doing us good, but because we enjoy it and cannot help ourselves…The more restricted our society and work become, the more necessary it will be to find some outlet for this craving for freedom. No one can say, ‘You must not run faster than this, or jump higher than that.’ The human spirit is indomitable.”. Sir Roger Bannister, first runner to run a sub-4 minute mile. Why do I run? April 9, 2011 – University of Louisville Healthc...

Downtown Frankfort, Frankfort, Kentucky. May 09, 2014. To hitting my sub-22 minute 5K goal on this race. It’s a bit of a letdown to be. Close to my goal and to fall short. By two…freakin’…seconds. But…it was time to stop watching the weather and pack up to get on the road. There is a method to this madness. HAHA! The fo...

Running On Purpose: July 2011
http://runningonpurpose.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Saturday, July 30, 2011. Dusting off the legs (and the blog). I've not been blogging, but I have been running, at least for the last three weeks. So this probably makes me a bad running blogger, but not such a bad running runner. Or something like that. This has been a pretty aimless post, but hey, better than nothing. Perhaps the spark that brought my running back to life will do the same for my blogging and other writing! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. On my hit parade:. Pacific ...
Running On Purpose: December 2011
http://runningonpurpose.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
Sunday, December 18, 2011. Oh hello, running! My last run was about this time in November. Truly I have been sitting in the first-class cabin on the Slacker Express. Eating and drinking WAY too much chocolate and egg nog. So tonight's treadfest was short and sweet - 15 min. mile pace for 1.5 miles. Then I did 30 crunches (front and obliques). Stretched. It was enough to break a sweat, at least. I might have actually burned two whole Hershey's kisses. Time to get a-crackin'. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
Running On Purpose: March 2012
http://runningonpurpose.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Tuesday, March 20, 2012. A race report and.what's next. Oh my goodness - so much happening in my running life! My third go-round with the Shamrock Run 15K. Is now in the history books. The medal this year was big, heavy and felt sweet indeed hanging around my neck. I felt great the night before, thanks to my lovely running peeps Jenn. And Donna and a fun meet-up/pre-race carb load:. Relay from Blaine to Bellingham, WA in July! Wednesday, March 14, 2012. Even on the treadmill, sometimes it just all falls ...
Running On Purpose: September 2011
http://runningonpurpose.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
Thursday, September 22, 2011. Hoppin' on the Three Things Thursday bandwagon. Well This morning's workout, albeit on a treadmill, totally rocked. I am definitely getting stronger, and slowly, second by second, getting faster. Being on the treadmill didn't really suck any less than it normally does, but whoa nelly -! Is to get to 5 miles in an hour - seems like I am well on my way. They're barely used, especially by the standards to which I generally hold the running clothes that I buy and b). And speakin...
Running On Purpose: December 2010
http://runningonpurpose.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Sunday, December 12, 2010. Jan 1st, a few weeks early. It was an interesting weekend, and I think I may have figured a few things out. The most important part of the weekend was that I finally went to the gym for a workout. Over Thanksgiving) and as a result, have managed to gain well over ten pounds since late summer. A lot of it has been mindless shoveling, at that - boredom, stress, and general angst over lingering personal situations that have been difficult to deal with. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
Running On Purpose: *sigh*
http://runningonpurpose.blogspot.com/2012/07/sigh.html
Monday, July 30, 2012. Angsty posts are better than no posts, right? After the awesome high of Ragnar Northwest Passage Relay the weekend before last (which of course, I haven't posted about) there was last Saturday, which was the Wildwood Trail Half Marathon in Forest Park. Gorgeous day. Gorgeous course. Felt well-hydrated and energetic, ready to run. What could possibly go wrong? Hard Again my left knee got the impact as well, this time there was missing skin but amazingly enough, it wasn't bleeding.
Running On Purpose: April 2012
http://runningonpurpose.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Monday, April 23, 2012. Time for an update. :-P. At least I have two races to talk about, and it's a pretty big coincidence, I guess, that they were both 10 mile races, only a week apart, and that it is absolutely. That they could have been (or ended) any more differently than they did. These two Saturdays served as a sobering study in how extremely opposite two races of the same distance can be. Pear Blossom Run - Medford, OR. A" goal time: 2:15:00. Actual time: 2:08.53. Monument Peak Run - Gates, OR.
Running On Purpose: May 2011
http://runningonpurpose.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Tuesday, May 31, 2011. You know what they say about persistence. There's a route in my neighborhood I mapped out some time ago which has always proven to be an excellent workout. It's just a bit over five miles, doorstep to doorstep, and mostly rolling hills - with one or two that are (at least for me) the kind that turns my entire body into an sorry, oxygen-starved slug of lead. This evening I graduated to a not-quite-as-sorry, slighty more oxygenated chunk of aluminum. Next up.foam core? It started to ...
His Finest Hour | Runner812

Tales of a runner with a wandering mind. January 20, 2015. My Dad was a man of few words. Despite having read. 8221; More than that, Dad’s words were almost never foul. Not to say he never cussed, but it was a nearly unique experience that he cussed at home. I can probably count on one hand how many times I ever heard him utter “shit” or “damn.” I. Heard him use the Queen Mother Of All Dirty Words. The words he used were almost always well chosen and articulate. It was my eighth grade year at St. Mar...
