We Call it the Field: Navy Memorabilia
http://wecallitthefield.blogspot.com/2011/07/navy-memorabilia.html
We Call it the Field. Sunday, July 3, 2011. This is only my third post and I'm going to stray from the intent of this blog. Well, kind of. I will work in some commerce. And since it's the 4th of July weekend this post only seems fitting. This is a pad eye from a carrier. These are welded to the deck and it was pretty heavy when I picked it up. They used eight of these to tie down a plane to the deck. This cup was given to my father from his squadron when I was born. Miramar NAS, San Diego, CA 1978. Conte...

We Call it the Field: June 2011

We Call it the Field. Tuesday, June 28, 2011. Blenheims Old # 3. I stopped by Oakleaf and Acorn. Yesterday to catch up with John. While we were on the porch he asked me if I had ever had Blenheim's. Spicy ginger ale. So of course he had some on ice in a cooler on the porch. John gave me the story about the South Carolina soda company as he popped one open for me. Like everything else in John's store this ginger ale was carefully selected to make the cut. Posted using BlogPress from my iPad. This is my fi...

We Call it the Field: Sebago "Made in America" Deadstock
http://wecallitthefield.blogspot.com/2011/06/sebago-made-in-america-deadstock.html
We Call it the Field. Wednesday, June 8, 2011. Sebago "Made in America" Deadstock. This is my first post and why wouldn't I start it off with a great find of Sebago "Made in America" shoes. Sear's Shoes has been in business for over 40 years servicing the Ft. Oglethorpe, GA area. Over 20,000 sq ft of wall to wall shoes, of course they have some Sebagos laying around that were made in America before the brand moved production to the Dominican Republic. I think they forgot to adjust prices due to inflation.
