Granite State Whale Watch: October 2014

http://www.granitestatewhalewatch.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

Granite State Whale Watch. Recent sightings and news. Sunday, October 12, 2014. Sunday, October 12. Splashing waves as our dolphins swam at the surface. The best part of this sighting was that this group was such a tight-knit group, and with the calm water, the visual of watching these agile mammals was incredible. There were about 60 of these whales circling all around the boat. Such beautiful conditions to watch these dolphins! Dolphins were swimming all around the boat! First Humpback whale of the day.

Granite State Whale Watch. Recent sightings and news. Friday, August 14, 2015. Friday, August 14. We had some beautiful trips today! This morning, our crew found 2 fin whales, 3 humpbacks, several minkes. A couple of harbor seals and even a quick look at a blue shark! One of the fin whales was “Crow”, and old favorite. Fin whales are so beautiful, graceful and huge! They are the second largest animal on the planet and yet we don’t know all that much about them. Fin whale "Crow"'s chevron. An ocean sunfis...

Granite State Whale Watch. Recent sightings and news. Monday, September 29, 2014. Sunday, September 28. Repeat's almost all black tail. Great to see you again Repeat! What a nice surprise to have this whale spending time in our area and a great first sighting of the day. As we spent time with Repeat we suddenly had a Fin whale appear off our port side. With such nice looks at Repeat we decided to check out this Fin whale before heading further offshore. Not only once but twice! In total we ended up seein...

Granite State Whale Watch. Recent sightings and news. Sunday, August 9, 2015. Sunday, August 9. The wind blew and the ocean began to churn as we ventured offshore today in hopes that conditions would be manageable for watching whales. Alas, the ocean won as maneuvering around whales was less than ideal even though there was plenty to look at! We spent time with Quill the Humpback whales moving into, and down, the waves. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Monday, August 31. Sunday, August 30. Picture Win...

Granite State Whale Watch. Recent sightings and news. Saturday, August 8, 2015. Saturday, August 8. The variety of life around Jeffreys Ledge is still quite impressive! This morning we found a minke whale close to the Isles of Shoals. As we watched Quill, an ocean sunfish came up in the wake of a passing boat. This unique-looking fish is the largest species of bony fish and we ended up seeing 2 of them during the trip. We then did a bit of searching and found a fin whale and another minke whale! Then, ju...
