Redpolls Returning? – Notes From Troglodytes
https://notesfromtroglodytes.wordpress.com/2015/02/16/redpolls-returning
A Fen Birders Log. A flock of around 100 goldfinches have been feeding near Tower Farm since Autumn. They tend to roost in the roadside trees and feed in the field opposite. On Sunday I spotted a small number of redpolls in amongst them. A small poplar wood to the west of here was cleared last year to encourage the growth of willows and alders. I noticed a red kite carrying in nest material and will be keeping an eye on the spot over the next few weeks. Holme, Cambridgeshire, UK. February 16, 2015. You a...

springcoppice: Footnotes
http://springcoppice.blogspot.com/2009/11/footnotes.html
Nature writing; exploration; environment; climate change. Thursday, 12 November 2009. A major new exhibition. Problem. The effort to move these other, crucial participants in expeditions from the footnotes of the historical record to centre stage is ambitious and important. The exhibition is running until 10 December 2009, and an online version is available for those who can’t make the expedition to Kensington. Thursday, November 12, 2009. View my complete profile. First one is of my new friend - he belongs to my cousin and wife, where I stayed for a month on my return. He's a lovely chap with lots of character. I arrived in early April to a heatwave, I was in the UK for around 6 weeks before I saw any rain! Well - you can sit and look at the trees (means birds! From down here . . . But it's much better from up here! Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my ...

Tuesday, November 1, 2011. Hi everyone, back again - I couldn't get into my blog for awhile - what a nightmare, trying to find access when Blogger kept telling me I had no profile - no account, the thought of having to start all over wasn't a happy one! I have to do it all gradually, so it is taking time but I am getting there. The pets are all settling down well after their 6 month ordeal, the dog in particular is very happy with his new life and being able to go for walkies! Bye for now, Nettie. The Si...
