Meet TS and Come See the Rest of the Garden. Thursday, June 25, 2015. Two Thousand Pounds of Carpe Diem. I don't recall posing for this picture. So I did. It only took eight hours. The drainage pipe from our sump pump as well as a pipe from under our patio kept this area so saturated it stunk. I bought 1500 pounds of cheap river rock to form the base of the bed. Scout went blind from diabetes. My blind dog Scout navigates. Around the garden based on surface texture and freaked out when he discovered a ch...

Meet TS and Come See the Rest of the Garden. Sunday, April 26, 2015. I'm covered in soil but I don't think you'll mind. The garden is bursting with growth. I've just started cleaning all the grass out of the trenches between the beds and the lawn and have a long way to go. Someday I'll rip out a massive chunk of that lawn and put in a pond but not today. These common primroses are one of my favorite spring flowers. I love how simple and straight forward they are. I think the flowers look like little UFO's.

Meet TS and Come See the Rest of the Garden. Wednesday, July 22, 2015. The Honesty of Annuals. Seed grown orange gomphrena (globe amaranth) lights up the Sunnyside Garden. Shut the door and close the curtain. I have to confess. I used to be a plant snob. Orange and white gomphrena filled a gap left by the gaura that rotted. I was convinced the only plants worthy of my garden were perennials. I stuffed my pots with annuals but had excluded them from my garden beds. That has yet to live up to it's name.

Meet TS and Come See the Rest of the Garden. Tuesday, August 25, 2015. Indie from Red House Garden. Recently blasted with me a bucket of blogger love, which includes the request to reveal something new about yourself. Something About Me You May Find Surprising:. I hate camping. Just the idea of sleeping on the ground in a tent makes my back hurt. My idea of camping includes a real mattress and indoor plumbing. Here are a few examples:. Why, of course, I'll stay here! Quotes to Live By:. I've lost track o...

Casa Mariposa: Mosaics
http://ts-casamariposa.blogspot.com/p/mosaics.html
Meet TS and Come See the Rest of the Garden. Sometimes I get the itch to make something. I'm not actually that crafty or artistic but I have a knack for creating funky mosaics. I've created two large pieces for the garden - a pot and a birdbath. This page doesn't give directions on how to make them but it does link you to the posts that do. This old metal birdbath was covered in beads and buttons and then coated with marine grade resin to prevent water damage and yellowing. It was very easy to make.

Meet TS and Come See the Rest of the Garden. Sunday, May 31, 2015. Flower Explosion at the Shrubapalooza. I wait all year for this. It is the shrub equivalent of a party and it's always held in my garden. My giant, floofy old fashioned deutzia 'Pink A Boo', a magnificent shrub with an absurd name, begins to bloom. The little pink buds hang fat and round before popping open to reveal a soft white heart. There must be thousands of flowers. I wait all year for this, too. Saturday, May 23, 2015. I threaded b...

Casa Mariposa: A Little Bit of Magic
http://ts-casamariposa.blogspot.com/2015/08/i-want-magic-wand.html
Meet TS and Come See the Rest of the Garden. Saturday, August 1, 2015. A Little Bit of Magic. I want a magic wand. It doesn't have to be big or fancy just magical. I want to be able to zap my dry shade into something moist and rich. But I don't think it's going to happen. Perhaps instead of moaning about what I don't have I need to find the beauty in what I do have. Native ruellia humilis, also known as wild petunia, pops up all over my garden and is just as happy in bright, dry shade as it is in sun.

Casa Mariposa: The Ugly Spot Solution
http://ts-casamariposa.blogspot.com/2015/07/the-ugly-spot-solution.html
Meet TS and Come See the Rest of the Garden. Sunday, July 5, 2015. The Ugly Spot Solution. Only the truly deluded would attempt such a challenge. Having been defeated numerous times, I should have crawled into my corner and left that area bare but that is just not the way I'm wired. Stubborn determination gets me out of the bed in the morning and keeps me warm at night. I will not be conquered. If you're thinking, "Oh Sweet Baby Ray, she did NOT hang a curtain on the outside of her window! The colorful b...

Casa Mariposa: Winter Sowing
http://ts-casamariposa.blogspot.com/p/winter-sowing.html
Meet TS and Come See the Rest of the Garden. At the bottom of this page I have several links that explain the process in detail. To see what I'm winter sowing this year, check out my So Seedy. I cut this milk jug almost in half, used a knife to poke several holes in the bottom, filled it with moist soil, added some seeds and then taped it all closed. Four months later it was bursting with plants. Using a $2 plastic drop cloth and some bungee cords, I cut a piece of plastic large enough to cover the pot.

Meet TS and Come See the Rest of the Garden. Sunday, March 29, 2015. A Matter of Perspective. I'm tired and student projects cover my table. The magazine lies cast to the side, its perfect pages turned under and ignored. Clad in sweats and a holey shirt, I crank the volume and begin to move. Hip swaying. Thunders through the house and I dance like my head's on fire. I have no talent for dance and the dogs stand clear as I shimmy and thrash. Out of breath,. Saturday, March 14, 2015. In 2013 when I learned...
