Gunny Girl: December 2014
http://climberchica.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Adventures of an outdoor athlete, ed tech professional development specialist and single mom. Saturday, December 27, 2014. The holidays. They are good. And difficult. I am going to admit something right here and now. I cared exactly zero percent about Christmas this year. I would rather have escaped to Tahiti, laid on a chaise lounge on the beach and thought about anything else besides my life and Christmas carols and Santa and presents. It's a good thing. The one thing I wanted most for Christmas- for t...

Gunny Girl: March 2015
http://climberchica.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Adventures of an outdoor athlete, ed tech professional development specialist and single mom. Tuesday, March 31, 2015. It's not a vacation. It's an experience. When I decided to take the kids to Mexico for spring break, I had no idea what I was getting in to and I knew it. But I also knew that THAT is the start to every great adventure. Because so many things. Because the kids and I deserved this. After a year that saw the breakup of our family and a dramatic shift in our lives, we deserved this. In cust...

http://climberchica.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html

In the last post, I promised some pictures of the same same, what you've come to expect from me.winter on planks. So here you go. Try not to yawn. I skate ski twice a week or so. It often looks like this. My technique is not as pretty as the view. Your city doesn't have a bonfire on a snowy night? Sunday, February 02, 2014. In short, it was awesome. I spent Saturday shredding my leg...

Gunny Girl: January 2015
http://climberchica.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Adventures of an outdoor athlete, ed tech professional development specialist and single mom. Sunday, January 11, 2015. Lots of snow. Not a lot of sleep. I spent the last week in Leadville, where I worked 16-hour days and didn't sleep enough. The upside was that it was a student trip and we played in the snow every day. The downside? All the work I did NOT get done while I was, ironically, working. It was pretty great. I also got my lovable, funny, fun-loving kids back and really, that's all that counts.

Gunny Girl: January 2014
http://climberchica.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Adventures of an outdoor athlete, ed tech professional development specialist and single mom. Monday, January 20, 2014. Evolution of a skier. Also titled: Patience. It Pays Off. A lot of people ask me how we manage to raise kids and still spend so much time on planks or on bikes. Yeah, we love to ski. Brian and I were ski patrollers for almost 7 years. One of Hazel's first days on the mountain as a 3-month-old was a ski patrol day. She spent her day in the first aid room while Mom and Dad switche...When ...

Gunny Girl: April 2014
http://climberchica.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
Adventures of an outdoor athlete, ed tech professional development specialist and single mom. Sunday, April 27, 2014. In the meantime, I am using the bike to feed my soul. My roots may lay in road biking, but mountain biking is probably the purest form of nourishment around here. With hundreds of miles of singletrack within a 30 minute radius, church is pretty easy to attend. See that blue sky? Is that not the greatest thing EVER? There is only one answer to that question. Ok, so not all of my bike ridin...

Not that summer and fall aren't the seasons of the bike. It's just that spring FEELS like it's the season of the bike. The ground has been snow-covered and I spent winter focusing on skiing. The first full months of rubber to the ground? Oh my It's an amazing thing. Crazy, I know. I think I am addicted. Because I need more cy...

Gunny Girl: Thoughts on a hail-soaked bike ride
http://climberchica.blogspot.com/2015/05/thoughts-on-hail-soaked-bike-ride.html
Adventures of an outdoor athlete, ed tech professional development specialist and single mom. Saturday, May 09, 2015. Thoughts on a hail-soaked bike ride. I rode towards the Cochetopa hills today. The last time I did that ride was on June 14, 2014. On June 14, 2014, I rode a glorious 50 miles in the sun. My legs felt springy. The creek alongside the road glittered. The pavement was smooth. It was one of those rides that upon your return home, you think, DAMN THAT WAS GOOD. I don't want to be here, where ...

Gunny Girl: August 2014
http://climberchica.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Adventures of an outdoor athlete, ed tech professional development specialist and single mom. Tuesday, August 12, 2014. A little bit of wheels and a whole lot of water. That said, I have found a great amount of peace and solace on the water. My paddleboard has provided me an outlet that can be hard or easy but is always calming. Even when I've got two kids on my board and I am paddling upwind in to white-capping waves, it all seems okay. And really, that's all I need right now. We paddled A LOT. My k...
