I got to spend Sunday morning with Surfcaster’s Journal Magazine Rod Guru Lou Caruso shooting breeze about new Lamiglas Old School GSB blanks that will be available in stores soon. Could I try to explain what an old school new blank is? Sure, but nowhere nearly as good as Lou can. We actually going to break this into a two parts since the first part alone is over 10 minutes. Here is a preview. August 17, 2016. We appreciate your patience. That ne...

Loot Alert #1: Linesider69 Darters! The hardest thing about running this tournament. so far anyway is receiving all these boxes of plugs. As you can see by the photo, Chuck was beyond generous, offering up more that $300 worth of his unique version of the Darter. And give these things a whirl this year! You'll have your chance to win them during the second week. Of the Surfcaster's Classic. Anyway, we had to make some changes to ...

No More Weekly Scores:. It has been glaringly obvious that I can’t keep up with my duties in a weekly format and furthermore, several of our finest competitors have told me that the tournament, in its current format, is too demanding—some even went so far as to tell me that it was ruining their lives! On the one hand, this feels like success, but on the other, I can relate and I think that needs to change. Going a step further, expanding to six (6) qualifying fish. That looks weird spelled out, but the n...

CLICK HERE FOR TOURNAMENT TAG. This Week 's Action. It's About To Get Real. Up here in the "snowy north" we've been biding our time, twiddling our thumbs. I saw on Facebook that some overly eager southern anglers made their first trip to the Canal last week, driving by hundreds of thousands of good fish to catch schoolies in the Ditch. Long before most of the local Canal guys have made cast one. Enthusiasm can help and it can hurt. remember your first time? This Month's Prize Packages. Brought to you by.

October 31, 2016. November 2, 2016. A pencil popper is the most versatile top water plug. A pencil popper can be fished in the surf, in inlets, in clam conditions, in rough conditions, during the day, and at night. I fish Guppy. October 1, 2016. October 9, 2016. On my last surfcasting trip, I got up a 4:00 AM. I put on my wet suit and drove my pre-packed Suburban. To a sandy beach with points, bars, and troughs. I got to the my spot at 5:45 AM. While putting on my surf belt. And grabbing my rod. A ranger came up to me. I thought he was going to point out the “No Parking” signs to the left and right of my Suburban. I waded out on the sandy point until the water reached my surf belt. It was a keeper striped bass with shoulders!
