postcards from melbourne: retrospective - short and sweet
http://postcardsfrommelbourne.blogspot.com/2011/07/retrospective-short-and-sweet.html
Retrospective - short and sweet. This year, my role saw me travelling quite a bit between countries. more recently it enabled me to go on a bit of a round the world circuit! Yes, it was done in all of 3 weeks in 4 countries (6 cities) which was relentless to say the least but i ensured that i planned for some play as well for we all know what all work does to jacq? So some of you have been asking what the highlights were in each port/city and they were:. Boon tong kee chicken rice. Walking to work from p...

Le birdcage diaries: first two weeks. Two weeks into living at the birdcage and i must say i am loving it. 8211; we can’t always expect a torrential downpour can we? 8221; and of course echoed my “what was he thinking? 8221; sentiment wholeheartedly. I’ve also had the privilege of having my first overnight guest last weekend and as all dry runs go, i think le birdcage is fully equipped to entertain guests and it’s hotel reservation system is now live. Will keep you posted. Singing in the kitchen. Today, ...

postcards from melbourne: relic from the past.
http://postcardsfrommelbourne.blogspot.com/2011/10/relic-from-past.html
Relic from the past. Pressed for an explanation, she articulated that i have in some way been able to weave the traditional aspects of my upbringing and made it apply in the very modern world i live and operate in. more importantly, i seem to be able to straddle the two worlds well and make it work for me - i have found some sort of equlibrium so to speak. We got to keep up with the times. Not to mention keep the elders on their toes! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

postcards from melbourne: through their eyes
http://postcardsfrommelbourne.blogspot.com/2011/09/through-their-eyes.html
The month of august was the height of activity and celebrations. not only was it my birthday but i had the pleasure of my family visiting me at the birdcage for the very first time. If there is one thing i've learnt and one that i am suitably reminded by joyce, is papa's truest reflection of the place is only after he has immersed himself in it for awhile and when he is back home in his "natural habitat" chatting with his friends, it is only then you can actually gauge his actual feelings about it.

postcards from melbourne: dishum dishum
http://postcardsfrommelbourne.blogspot.com/2011/09/dishum-dishum.html
Or "whack him lah" at the infamous "dishum dishum" (sound effects that normally accompany a fight scene) parts. Talk about evoking emotions and memories.many many many years later, same effect! And yes, that is where i get my dramatic flair from. :p. Can i get a like button for this writeup? 28 September 2011 at 14:37:00 GMT 8. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). postcards from melbourne: on hiatus (was)
http://postcardsfrommelbourne.blogspot.com/2011/07/on-hiatus-was.html
I've missed scribing. i truly have. I know that i could have rectified it because there was nothing stopping me from continuing to indulge in my hobby despite the hectic work schedule that saw a lot of travel but i must say my creative literary juice was at an all time low. So a retrospective series over the coming weeks should rectify this. watch this space. Can we start having a like button on your blog :D. 6 July 2011 at 11:53:00 GMT 8. Where is the love? In my quest to annoy my rather unflappable sister, joyce yesterday she reminded me of an incident that i should blog for posterity - something to tell my kids (and hers) someday. :). For the most part i actually did very well (ok the fact that sunday traffic is not as bad as any other day in kuala lumpur) and got to the venue, found the PERFECT spot where i didn't have to manoeuvre the car into side park etc - said a prayer of thanks, locked it up and off i went to my manicure/pedicure.

postcards from melbourne: February 2011

As the door open i saw lots of natural light flow in. tick. quick glance at the fridge cavity told me i might get to fit in my 430l refrigerator (priorities i tell you). tick. another quick glance at the kitchen hob told me the fit out team was smart enough to put the largest burner on the outside (believe you me, the current apartment's large burner was at the back rather than front! Obviously not the same fit out team to which i thank the good lord! Hmm i think its going to be fun living here. Note to ...

postcards from melbourne: December 2010
http://postcardsfrommelbourne.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
As i listen to mairi campbell's hauntingly beautiful version of auld lang syne, it is only apt that i note down my introspections for this year. 2010 has indeed been a great year! I kicked off the year owning an asset in the form of the "birdcage" which does bring a sense of trepidation on finally having a loan (read debt) at the grand old age of 35 but i'll be lying if i don't feel some sense of pride and achievement at this very significant milestone. :). Happy new year one and all. Even as i grew olde...
