Fayette, Michigan – Another Era. August 15, 2015. Our visit to Fayette (our second) was late afternoon on August 7. The weather was not cooperating, but we are not ones to let that stand in our way. Our rain gear served us well. However, after viewing our somewhat drab photos, we decided to try to go the ‘historic’ route and convert them to sepia tone. We hope you enjoy them! From left to right: the school, a middle class home, and the town hall. The second floor has a large performance hall, complet...

Tag Archives: Brockwaymountain Drive. Keweenaw Peninsula – Michigan’s Other Thumb. August 10, 2015. Ask most Michiganders where they are from and watch them pull up their trusty maps attached to the ends of their arms. Pardon the pun, but it can be quite handy at times! On Wednesday, we visited Michigan’s left thumb, the Keweenaw Peninsula. Climbing the hill out of Hancock, the Quincy Mine hoist comes into view. Along US 41 to the north of Calumet is the Snomometer. The area averages 20 feet of snow ...

Tag Archives: North Country Trail. We’re still “Falling” for each other after 33 years! August 13, 2015. Thursday, August 6 was our 33rd wedding anniversary. We like to celebrate our anniversaries by going either hiking or kayaking, and this year was no different. We chose to go for a hike on the North Country Trail south of Ontonagon, Michigan. It is interesting to see how a trail like this is constructed. Even still, there were spots that the ferns were covering the planks. Further along, the planks ga...

CoMike and the Duchess. Connie and Mike Johnson's full-time RV travels in their Dutch Star motor home. Thursday, August 27, 2015. Back to Crossville TN. Small lake in middle of campground. Old frig" is now out/waiting on the new one. In the evening we found out that Fairfield Glades, a local community near the campground, was having a live concert and serving hamburgers and sandwiches. We ended staying about an hour at the concert and left when the sun started to go down and it began to get cool. The tri...
