Monday, July 23, 2012. Perfection is Boring: An Ode to Film Photography. Here are a few of my recent shots that have reminded me of why I love shooting film (and also, at times, why I hate it too). First up are two shots from the Wash DC metro. The metro is full of photo opportunities - the people, the architecture, the constant motion of trains and crowds. I could spend a whole day just taking pictures of the metro. Saturday, April 21, 2012. Rice and Chopsticks: Taking things slow in Georgetown. Here's ...

Hasselblography: December 2011

http://hasselblography.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html

Wednesday, December 14, 2011. Honest Abe in Medium Format. We take it. 95% of the time, that leads to better photos. Here are the shots that I got at the Lincoln Memorial. This is one of the reasons why the last 30 minutes of the day is so much better for photography. Not only are the colors nicer at the end of the day, but the dynamic range between the subject and the sky is a much more manageable 2 to 3 stops. Happy Holidays - may there be a hasselblad under every tree, and film in every stocking!

Hasselblography: Rice and Chopsticks: Taking things slow in Georgetown

http://hasselblography.blogspot.com/2012/04/rice-and-chopsticks-taking-things-slow.html

Saturday, April 21, 2012. Rice and Chopsticks: Taking things slow in Georgetown. As usual, I've put my favorite picture first. You'll have to excuse the black band at the bottom of the image. My goal when shooting the Hasselblad is to never crop a picture in post. If you see the black band, which comes from scanning the film, then the picture hasn't been cropped at all. Here's another shot from the same location. Now that I think about it, this would make a great background for some portraits as well.

Sunday, February 12, 2012. Hasselblad on the Web. Unfortunately the Hasselblad hasn't seen much action since my last post. It’s not that I haven’t done any photography – I’ve been able to grab some nice shots, especially in Lake Tahoe ( http:/ www.facebook.com/media/set/? Http:/ www.photoethnography.com/ClassicCameras/Hasselblad500.html. 2) Patrick Taylor also gives a very nice description of the Hasselblad “V” series, as well as some interesting info on the development and early uses of thes...4) If you...

Smarts and Crafts: November 2011

http://smartscrafts.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html

Saturday, November 26, 2011. Easy Peasy Banana Bread. In the days BB ( before breadmaker. I didn’t make any bread but this recipe. It was quick, easy, required no kneading or rising, and was a great use for black bananas. Considering I don’t eat bananas once they get a bruise or run past the slightly green/bright yellow stage, this recipe saved a lot of bananas from a garbage fate. 3 – 4 ripe/black bananas. 1/3 cup melted butter. 1/3 – ¾ cup of sugar *. 1 egg, beaten. 1 tsp baking soda. Instead, I’...

It’s just meant to show a cute technique that I’ve used to make a fun little cake. I made this cake for a baby shower several years ago. Two girls I worked with were having babies and I love them both. I wanted to make them an awesome cake. I frosted the entire thing with buttercream. Curl your right hand into a fist. Foggy mi...

Smarts and Crafts: Rose Cupcakes

http://smartscrafts.blogspot.com/2012/01/rose-cupcakes.html

Saturday, January 7, 2012. I thought I’d continue this week with another cupcake from the What’s New, Cupcake. The sequel to Hello, Cupcake. I made these the weekend of my sister's wedding ( they were for those of us staying at a beach house together. Make your favorite cupcakes. Again, it doesn’t matter what kind, but I did specifically bake them in red cupcake liners. It helps with the flower effect. To ice the cupcakes and make the flowers, you will need to gather a few things. Add other flattened fis...

Smarts and Crafts: December 2011

http://smartscrafts.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html

Tuesday, December 27, 2011. For my 2011 finale, I wanted to show you my favorite cupcakes! The idea comes directly from the book “ What’s New, Cupcake? 8221; which is the sequel to “ Hello, Cupcake! 8221; The ideas are so cute and some are easy to implement ( some are actually a bit difficult, sadly. But this one is really easy! Make whatever cupcakes you like. I’m a big fan of chocolate or red velvet, myself. Once they are cool, gather the following things:. Bag of mini marshmallows. So gorgeous, in fac...

Smarts and Crafts: An Alternative Wedding Guest Book

http://smartscrafts.blogspot.com/2012/01/normal-0-false-false-false-en-us-x-none.html

Saturday, January 21, 2012. An Alternative Wedding Guest Book. I’ve never understood guest books at weddings. I have nowhere to store the thing nor will I ever flip through it to look at the names. They’re just weird to me. My husband’s opinion was “We need a guest book? I decided to take into account where my husband and I were each from: Buffalo, NY and Philadelphia, PA. Both cities are on the water ( Lake Erie and the Delaware River, respectively. Since the picture was going to have to be large enough...

Tirsdag 19. oktober 2010. Tirsdag, oktober 19, 2010. Send dette via e-post. Onsdag 15. september 2010. Bruk av sosial...
