Sunday, May 26, 2013. I Must Be A Masochist. TGS2CKIO. (Thank goodness Step 2 CK is over). The actual test was a bit harder than I anticipated, but if I score anywhere near my practice test score, I'll be happy. Unlike Step 1, however, the 9 hours seemed to fly by. At least it's over! And I am so glad BF and I got it out of the way, especially while all the material from third year was "fresh" in our minds. Fingers crossed while I wait for my score! Dr Coffee's Brain Banter. This week break went by way.

Charming Wholesomeness: January 2014
http://alwaysanswerb.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, January 28, 2014. Book review:1Q84 by Haruki Murakami. Where do I even begin to describe a book like. This was my first Murakami novel, and though I felt, at times, that certain minutiae for which he is apparently infamous (food preparation, repetitive dialogue and re-iteration of expository detail) contributed unnecessary padding to the 1157 pages, overall I found myself quite swept away in the lyricism of the writing and the surreal but precise detail in observing the world of 1Q84. Stories ab...

Charming Wholesomeness: April 2014

Monday, April 28, 2014. Book review: Ruins (The Partials Sequence #3) by Dan Wells. The first thing I will say is this: Ruins, despite its bleak title, had possibly the happiest ending in a YA dystopian trilogy that I remember reading in quite some time, and, admittedly, I was kind of relieved. While I liked the trilogy overall a lot and was satisfied with the final conclusion, I did have some issues with this particular book. It’s hard to discuss some of them without getting a bit specific, so...I also ...

Charming Wholesomeness: Book review: Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes
http://alwaysanswerb.blogspot.com/2014/05/book-review-flowers-for-algernon-by.html
Tuesday, May 6, 2014. Book review: Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes. Quickie summary: “In this classic story that inspired the hit movie by the same name, Charlie Gordon, a mentally disabled adult who cleans floors and toilets, becomes a genius through an experimental operation.”. End of this book are written in the author’s idea of mentally disabled pidgin, and it’s uncomfortable to read, to say the least. Where in overall content and intent, Keyes seems to have hit the right notes, ...Book review: ...
