Past and Future Activities. The origins of Healthcare Nepal dates back to 1997. It all started as a privately funded project to provide poor people from remote areas in Nepal with adequate treatment in case of accident or acute illness. What started on a very small scale grew rapidly. There were many needy people, children not least - especially suffering from heart diseases, or severely injured in accidents.

Past and Future Activities. Nepal, although rich in natural beauty, is among the economically one of the poorest countries of the world. Health services are generally very inadequate. Nearly all the hospitals, properly trained doctors and extended health facilities are concentrated in the Kathmandu City or the few other larger towns. Elsewhere, government health posts exist, but under staffed and medicines are frequently insufficient.

Past and Future Activities. Prevention is better than cure. Knowledge and awareness can prevent many obstacles in the form of ill-health. With these background ideas, a training programme has been instigated by Nepal Help and implemented by project leader Dr. Gerda Rath. Since most people in Nepal are unfamiliar with the basics of First Aid, training sessions in First Aid were given in many villages. Regular follow up trainings for the girls who completed ANM, CMA by the project leader.
