Sunday, July 5, 2009. A visit to the farm. We took a visit to my grandparents farm last weekend. It was my first traveling and overnight stay with boys solo. It took us about 3 hours to get there, with one stop to feed little Logan. We had a great time, although it was HOT! This trip was extra special because Logan met his great grandparents for the first time. I know Great-Granny loved holding him! Here are pics from our weekend trip. Visiting the cows.there were 10 calves too! Luke taking an A/C break.

Friday, June 19, 2009. Logan's 3 Week Update. Logan went for his weight check today! He weighed in at 6 lb, 14 oz. He is just an ounce shy of birth weight. His doctor said to keep doing what we are doing! He is doing great! Glad to know that our home scale is right on track with the doctor's. Crazy how fast they grow! Logan has been more alert lately! Friday, June 12, 2009. Logan's 2 Week Appointment. Highly doubt it though. His head circumference. Is 1425 inches (25%). Overall he is doing great. She was not overly concerned about his weight. We will go back in a week for a weight check to see where he is at. Logan is such a sweet and precious addition to our family. Wednesday, February 5, 2014. Travis had another birthday, which makes him yet another year older. It's crazy how that happens! Of course he is all about Legos so that was the theme for his party. But we mixed in a little Olympics too and did an obstacle course and some other fun games. I bought some Legos and gave each of the kids a bag to make their own creation. Then the adults voted on awards for each of them. It was fun to see the different things they created with all the same pieces.

Wednesday, September 25, 2013. Love is a Jello Salad. Justin had his annual visit to the ophthalmologist last week. It was the first time they could actually do a real vision test. They gave Justin a sheet of paper with 4 letters on it and the they put one of the letters up on the screen. They patched one eye and had him say which letter it was. He did SO good at identifying the letters! Until they got too small. As it turns out the eye with the myelinated nerve fibers. But you women understand, right?

Tuesday, December 31, 2013. We did our gingerbread houses again this year. I found a fun village with 5 different houses, but when I opened the box, three of them were broken beyond repair. Welcome to Heathered Ridge Farm located in the rolling hills of Northeast Iowa. Our 3rd generation farm is home to a variety of pasture raised animals. We have a fiber flock of sheep and angora goats,which is primarily made up of Shetland/ Blue Face Leicester ewes that we cross with a Texel ram. With this cross, the ewes are great mothers, a little smaller and still have wonderful fleeces!
