Pettus Pie: October 2014
http://pettuspie.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Thursday, October 23, 2014. Winners and Losers in Two of Life's Little Contests. It has occurred to me. That I never revealed the winner of the Great Sayid Mystery of 2012. More than two-thirds of our guessers picked "boy," so we had several front runners early on. We couldn't discover our winner, though, until a couple months after Emmett's birth, when his murky black eyes turned a definitive brown. His anticipation and excitement peaked when I finished and revealed that the winner was . Yes the car was...

Pettus Pie: Conquistador
http://pettuspie.blogspot.com/2013/03/conquistador.html
Monday, March 18, 2013. The ability to flaunt your animal-bottomed pants is one one of the added benefits of crawling. Emmett started crawling and has become DeSoto himself. I've been meaning to put an update about this for a couple weeks. Since then, he's built up some crawling confidence. Actually, Loin Fruit had been threatening to burst out into a crawl for a while. To entice him, I built dozens of block towers just out of reach. Food has always motivated me and my other kids, Rusty and Lily. It's a ...

The Harnation: A Glimpse of the Sun in the Midst of the Gloom
http://theharnation.blogspot.com/2015/03/a-glimpse-of-sun-in-midst-of-gloom.html
Wednesday, March 18, 2015. A Glimpse of the Sun in the Midst of the Gloom. Finally, after weeks - months even - of rain, snow, ice, darkness, and gloom, we have had a glimpse of the sun and its beautiful warmth and light. I always look forward to spring and the newness it brings. I almost dread fall a little because I know that its end only means winter, and months of limited light, warmth, color and life. It's been a rough six months. It's not normal to feel this overwhelmed by the simple routine of rai...

The Harnation: November 2012
http://theharnation.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
Wednesday, November 28, 2012. In case you didn't hear, North Korea's Kim Jong-Un won The Onion's "Sexiest Man Alive". I've been laughing out loud about this for two days. The best part is, China's state-run online news site, The Peoples Daily, thought that the award was legitimate. And ran a 55 page spread on Kim Jong-Un. Wednesday, November 7, 2012. It's no secret that I'm a flaming conservative. These words from Michelle Malkin. Made me perk up a little this morning. Earlier this evening, when many con...

Pettus Pie: Gus Busts 7
http://pettuspie.blogspot.com/2015/08/gus-busts-7.html
Saturday, August 8, 2015. The day we took Gus's borrowed "rock-and-play" bassinet back to Aunt Rebecca. It was no longer safe to put him in since he was obviously trying to assert his dominance over it. Gus is 7 months. This was the age that I distinctly remember ( for Emmett. In which the baby calendar was crammed with entries boasting firsts — foods, experiences, and accomplishments. These are fine times. This photo was taken with plenty of natural light, and I did not alter the color balance at all.

Lynne, Inc.: Training or Trying?
http://honeypadoodle.blogspot.com/2008/02/training-or-trying.html
Postings from the desk of the happiest pastor's wife on the planet. Tuesday, February 19, 2008. A friend of mine wanted a book that would help her with some challenges that she faces in her marriage. So I asked Counselor Extraordinaire Jayne Clark (on staff with CCEF for 17 years) for a recommendation, and she suggested: How to Act Right When Your Spouse Acts Wrong, by Leslie Vernick. How can my friend take it home? Talk about a firestarter! What are you reading? Even though I don't have a spouse who doe...

Pettus Pie: This Is What One Year Looks Like
http://pettuspie.blogspot.com/2015/04/this-is-what-one-year-looks-like.html
Tuesday, April 28, 2015. This Is What One Year Looks Like. This is what one year looks like . It's beautiful. One year of existence to our Gus! He, of course, has spent most of the year under wraps, but it's amazing to think about how he's been with us for an entire 365 days now. And it's so strange to contrast my two April 28s . the one of 2014 and this one of 2015. On our red deck, playing YouTube hymns. Birthdays are great for mothers. With Emmett, I have spent his birthdays recounting the joy of ...

The Harnation: Some of the Wonderful
http://theharnation.blogspot.com/2015/03/some-of-wonderful.html
Wednesday, March 25, 2015. Some of the Wonderful. I'm thankful for places with double-seated shopping carts. George is just too big for the Baby Bjorn these days! Now that I've got that off of my chest, I feel like writing about some of the wonderful. Things in my life. The things that give me joy and make life beautiful. The things for which I am thankful for. Get ready, because I have some catching up to do on photo posting. If photos aren't your sort of thing, you can go ahead and skip this post.

Pettus Pie: August 2014
http://pettuspie.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Thursday, August 21, 2014. Another Point for Motherly Intuition. Who guessed Petrie to be a boy! And congrats to Wade, who is even now envisioning all the yard work our two boys will accomplish for him. When we saw the ultrasound, we both knew instantly that we were looking at our new son's special places, and we exclaimed in delight. I hadn't an ounce of regret or sadness, like I thought I might (I wanted a boy, but I was afraid that no matter what gender Petrie turned out to be, I might be sad too).

Pettus Pie: May 2014
http://pettuspie.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
Wednesday, May 28, 2014. Only an hour or so old and already smiling. And already, in his first few days of life, it seems George Alexander has decided to make things easier on Becca. For one thing, he was only. Nine days late (as opposed to Anne Marie, who was 14 days late! Here's a picture of Rebecca, George, Anne Marie and Emmett in the pool on the day she birthed George:. Like his sister (facing up instead of facing down, which is ideal). How considerate of him. Than Dr. D. Photo credit to Amy. With s...
