Mindless Meanderings of a Middle-Aged Maniac: A Happy Place
http://kobico.blogspot.com/2013/03/a-happy-place.html
Mindless Meanderings of a Middle-Aged Maniac. There are a lot of day-off projects to do this year, but for now, it's nice to have this little spot for relaxing. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Im a short, semi-optimistic but fully cynical middle-aged, angry but happy, crazy mixed up kid from the bay area. Im so old I remember when my home town was in the 415, we collected records instead of MP3s, and school teachers didnt have to beg parents to make photocopies for them. View my complete profile.

Mindless Meanderings of a Middle-Aged Maniac. How did that happen? Clumsiness this evening as the middle aged office monkey exited the building and headed toward the stairs. As usual, she was futzing in her purse as she stepped down off the landing. Except this time, instead of her foot landing squarely on the step below, only the edge of her three inch heel made contact (darn vanity! And her foot slipped just as she transferred her weight to it. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Photos in ...

Mindless Meanderings of a Middle-Aged Maniac. One would think that the rambunctiously enthusiastic dog would be the reason I need to replace the screening on my back porch door at regular intervals, but no. The innocent-looking cat that spends most of the day sleeping and her claws are the culprit! Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Mindless Meanderings of a Middle-Aged Maniac. The Dog (and Cat) Days of Summer. Piglette enjoying the sunshine. Have not yet arrived here in the SF Bay area. Granted, given our latitude and proximity to the sea, temperatures rarely reach extremes, but we usually have an "Indian Summer" around late August/early September. This summer has seemed cooler than in the past. I wear sweaters and long sleeves more often, and heat-loving tomatoes don't seem to be flourishing as they once did. Links to this post.

Mindless Meanderings of a Middle-Aged Maniac. During the Vietnam era, my hometown adopted A Company, 1st Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade, 101st Airborne Division, the Screaming Eagles. And, according to the free daily newsrag here, was the only town in the country to hold a parade for returning Vietnam vets in 1972. So today (yesterday, now), the town did a repeat performance for the original parade's 40th anniversary. Piglette and I walked around the park, looking at the booths, greeting...

Mindless Meanderings of a Middle-Aged Maniac. This passage of Jon Krakauer's made little, if any, impression on me when I originally read his chronicle of a young man's foray into the Alaska wilderness that resulted in his death. But when I happened upon it again as I was thumbing through a few weeks ago, it stayed with me. Hollyhock, June 2011. Note: photos in this entry were taken with my new camera, a Samsung HZ30W. My boyfriend gave it to me when I lost my trusty Canon PowerShot. A few weeks ...Im a ...

Mindless Meanderings of a Middle-Aged Maniac. It's Mother's Day here in the US, and instead of my own mother (who was a great gal and fantastic parent, by the way), my thoughts turn instead to another mom with whom I share DNA. Even today she underplays her achievements, saying that she barely passed her undergraduate program, or claiming that she is no longer capable of those things. But that person still exists, she's just changed her focus. If there is one thing I wish for my sister on this da...Im a ...
