Not making sense of parenting since 2015. Once upon a time…. Week 69 – gone in a flash. December 8, 2016. I’ve just realised that I haven’t added an entry for last week yet. The main reason is that it was one of those weeks which lasts an eternity when you’re going through it but is suddenly gone. Still, we made it through the week without mishap and with a couple of full night’s sleep from Reindeer which helped immensely. Week 74 – update. Week 69 – gone in a flash. Week 68 – teething woes.

Despite being rather short-notice, we were amazed to have more than 25 family members travel across to spend the day with us. Not making sense of parenting since 2015. Once upon a time…. Week 65 – walking. October 31, 2016. Since he took his first independent steps two months ago, Reindeer’s walking has really come on. We haven’t had him measured for shoes yet, instead using socks, Mocc Ons and Stonz while he’s been learning. He’ll also play with other people’s shoes – including hiding them. This can be funny or frustrating depending on how long it takes to find a matched pair again! Week 65 – communication. October 31, 2016.

Not making sense of parenting since 2015. Once upon a time…. Week 66 – dancing. November 7, 2016. The last couple of weeks Reindeer has started dancing when he hears music he likes. It is ridiculously cute and he loves it if you join in too 🙂. Week 66 – sleep. November 7, 2016. It’s 0500 here and I’ve been awake for the last 40-50 minutes as Reindeer is unsettled. He’s rolling about in bed a bit and occasionally making sounds, although nothing that requires my presence so far. Reindeer might need me.

Reindeer has now discovered his key biped ability and is really trying to use it. Today he would just randomly begin walking around; sometimes just a couple of unaided steps, sometimes ten or twelve. For the last couple of days, if I put Reindeer in his cot for reasons other than sleep, he uses the time to try and do forward rolls. I don’t know why. To the best of my knowledge he’s never seen one performed. At least he’s trying it in a soft, safe space. I suspect we have an acrobat on our hands! Week 65 – walking.
