Seaside Stitchers: Pop up Museum
http://seasidestitchers.blogspot.com/2015/07/pop-up-museum.html
Sunday, July 26, 2015. Thursday saw the launch of the three pop up museums in the latest stage of Blackpool's Treasure Trove Project. All three groups and their artists have worked very hard and the pop ups are very varied in style and content to reflect different aspects of Blackpool's entertainment history. Hopefully during the coming months you will have the opportunity to see all or some of the displays when they are on tour around town. Depicting the various styles of Paul's make up. stickyfingerstuff: another show
http://stickyfingerstuff.blogspot.com/2015/06/another-show.html
Stuff about textiles and me. Sunday, 7 June 2015. I finally completed and handed in my TOT2 piece earlier this week. I am happy with the final outcome - i know it could be more polished and perfect, but i want it to be touchable, for people to handle it. I am pleased with the spine work, it allows the book to open flat - i wonder if the tape and thread i used are strong enough in the long run? But it won't be handled much unless it goes on permanent exhibition, which is unlikely. Actually it's not quite ...

stickyfingerstuff: back home
http://stickyfingerstuff.blogspot.com/2015/07/back-home.html
Stuff about textiles and me. Tuesday, 7 July 2015. Our first caravan trip of the year - up to a corner of staffordshire on the edge of the peak district national park - lots of textile related things for me to do and see and plenty of lovely hilly quiet roads for him to cycle. Also time to think about future projects, as i don't have nearly enough ufos to be getting on with! Earlier in the week we visited quarry bank mill - one of the first in this country to harness water for industrial processing of co...

stickyfingerstuff: making do
http://stickyfingerstuff.blogspot.com/2015/05/making-do.html
Stuff about textiles and me. Sunday, 17 May 2015. To try and make up for our lost robinettes i have decided to make some of my own - 2 done, only 4 more to go. I even have perches for them - part of a different project but they fit the bill. I should credit the sources for my robin patterns: left is "Typing with Tea", downloadable patterns on etsy, right is based on chickummyjig, a free pattern by myrtleandeunice.com. Love that idea, to commemorate their little lives! 20 May 2015 at 21:21.

stickyfingerstuff: more robins
http://stickyfingerstuff.blogspot.com/2015/05/more-robins.html
Stuff about textiles and me. Sunday, 31 May 2015. The rag robin family is growing. I've added a golden silk robin. And a doiley robin. An eco-dyed robin is coming soon. Meanwhile unseen by us, it seems our blue tits have fledged and flown, the nest box is very quiet. I thought robins were a bit outside my usual parameters but now i'm going outside my comfort zone in colour and pattern combinations. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). stickyfingerstuff: another bit done, but mostly thinking out loud
http://stickyfingerstuff.blogspot.com/2015/05/another-bit-done-but-mostly-thinking.html
Stuff about textiles and me. Friday, 15 May 2015. Another bit done, but mostly thinking out loud. I've been leaving it a bit late to work out the precise details of the cover - i've sorted out the board (reclaimed) but deciding on what it would be covered with seemed to stump me - a couple of days ago i finalised the cover design;. On the book it looks right, but here it looks like something someone else did - it looks too neat and tidy to have been done by me. But i needed to be able to stitch through i...

stickyfingerstuff: summer stitching
http://stickyfingerstuff.blogspot.com/2015/07/summer-stitching.html
Stuff about textiles and me. Sunday, 19 July 2015. Still rather unfocussed at the moment, wandering from one thing to another, sampling and dabbling. I think this little leaflet of rusted cloth is done. The cloth was rusted last year during the alice fox course at avg. The fabric was a bit flimsy for stitching so i backed it, but this made it a bit bulky for the folds involved. This leaflet form probably works better in paper, a single layer of fabric, or in a larger size. The pound coin is for scale.
