Originally called the Stone Bridge but has been the “Charles Bridge” since 1870. The only means of crossing the river Vltava until 1841, the Charles Bridge was the most important connection between Prague Castle and the city’s Old Town and adjacent areas. Here is a view of the Charles Bridge over the River Vltava with the Prague Castle in the background. Entering the Charles Bridge from the Old Town side thru this Gothic-styled bridge tower. At the end of the bridge is the road going to Prague Castle.
