Day Eight: There is no more inward battle. But is this really what Paul means? I say no. Here’s why. Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ! 8221; And then in Romans 8 he says that if we live by the Spirit we will not indulge the passions of the flesh. Thus Paul is re-iterating what he said in Galatians – “Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the Law, or by hearing with faith? Why would you try to live under law? Therefore, how do you continue to live by the Spirit? And this is, indeed, new life!

Day Three: Pulling yourself up by the bootstraps. Christianity is primarily not a moral religion – something that we need to come to terms with if we want to live in the Holy Spirit, as the Bible instructs us to do (Romans 8 and many other places). We can’t water-down Jesus’ teachings to moralism. Jesus was pointing to things that are far more profound. God’s righteousness goes beyond morals.
