Friday, June 26, 2015. 8230;Christmas cards, announcements and art! Remember when I included. Piece on my collage wall? Minted generously allowed me to choose art to fill the wall in our powder room. It’s tiny and all black (including the ceiling) so we needed something to pop on those dark walls. Coincidentally while searching all of the Minted Art Prints I found a companion piece from the same artist called Looking UP. So now the part about the Giveway… .Minted. 39 comments :. Timeless Kitchen before & after. Saturday, May 16, 2015. A few weeks ago Schoolhouse Electric. Posted our kitchen on their instagram and called it a “Timeless Kitchen.”. It occurred to me that I never did a post on our. For its overall size. we needed the space under it for pots and pans and the two drawers for cutlery and plastic wraps/foil etc. The smaller island is everything we needed in function and makes the space feel larger and less cramped as the original one which had about the same amo...One o...

The Sunroom | house185
https://house185.wordpress.com/2014/12/20/the-sunroom
Anyone still out there? I’m crawling back out from my long blogging hiatus to write about our most exciting reno to date! For as long as we’ve lived in this house we’ve wanted to turn our never used screened in porch into a sunroom that was open to the rest of the house. We finally saved up enough money to make it happen, and with construction just having come to an end, I thought it was high time I catalogued the progress here. Shall we start with the befores? While we were at it, we decided to enclose ...

Chaos | house185
https://house185.wordpress.com/2013/12/11/chaos
Steve and I are currently in the midst of our annual end of year push to complete projects in time for Christmas. Last year, it was the wainscoting and crown molding in the hallway. I’m crossing my fingers that next year it will be putting the finishing touches on our screened porch to sunroom conversion. This year however, it’s turning our dining room into an office and our formal living room into a dining room. And here’s a reminder of the dining room looked like pre-office conversion:. Finally, I̵...

Around Here | house185

Remember a few months ago when I talked. About renovating our linen closet? Really, how silly is it that we renovated a linen closet? But we did. We enclosed a weird vent, covered the existing washer/dryer hookups with a removable cover, and finally added shelves. There’s a bit of trim that needs to be added, which you can see in the bottom left in the photo above. We’ll get that added eventually, but for now it’s done. And more importantly, it’s functional! Pretty cute, right? Speaking of the office, my...

Catching Up | house185
https://house185.wordpress.com/2013/09/22/catching-up
There’s quite a bit going on around the house I’d like to document and catch you up on. Here we go! First of all, I think 95% of the people who find themselves on this site did so by researching how to bind their own rugs and carpet remnants. You can see my tutorial on how I did it for my hallway rug here. So here’s an update on how it’s holding up. In a word: beautifully! Clearly they didn’t realize that in 50 years a homeowner would come along with a weird. So I had Steve frame it out and dry wall it.
