I Majored in Home Economics: April 2016
http://homeecmajor.blogspot.com/2016_04_01_archive.html
A blog about decorating, sewing, cooking, gardening, family, and walking a faith filled journey. Saturday, April 30, 2016. Trash to Treasure and a Garden Update. A couple of weeks ago, I was headed out of my circle for a walk when I spotted a rocker/glider out by the road for trash. My neighbor was moving, and I was really sad to see them go as they have been very good neighbors. I threw the cushions away. I popped the spring back in that seemed like it come off. No problem! Am I rushing things? However,...
I Majored in Home Economics: A Good Lord's Day
http://homeecmajor.blogspot.com/2017/01/a-good-lords-day.html
A blog about decorating, sewing, cooking, gardening, family, and walking a faith filled journey. Sunday, January 8, 2017. A Good Lord's Day. Today was such a good day at church. The music was amazing. The sermon was literally one of the best ever. It was not what I expected for my New Year's sermon, but let me tell you it was just what I needed. Key topics included possibility - which is what you would expect with a New Year's sermon. But the Scripture was . New American Standard Bible (NASB). Anyway the...

http://homeecmajor.blogspot.com/2016_08_01_archive.html
A blog about decorating, sewing, cooking, gardening, family, and walking a faith filled journey. Wednesday, August 31, 2016. I finally found time to rest after a very full summer. I try never to be a whiny old lady, but instead get up everyday thankful for the new day, and then count my blessings. This summer has just been a full one, and I have been needed by everyone. Oh, and I did hit the gym yesterday, so I wasn't a complete sloth,. In other stuff, we have a very close friend making us a pie safe....

A blog about decorating, sewing, cooking, gardening, family, and walking a faith filled journey. Friday, December 30, 2016. A Couple of Days Away. I always love when Hubby and I can get away even if for just a night. We left on Wednesday morning to head up to our cabin near Auburn. We made a quick stop by the farm to drop off a few things and let Hubby and a friend shoot a new gun. I brought the pillows that I finally. I get to the cabin I can't bring myself. To move it from the cabin. I will share some ...
I Majored in Home Economics: New Year's Eve
http://homeecmajor.blogspot.com/2016/12/new-years-eve.html
A blog about decorating, sewing, cooking, gardening, family, and walking a faith filled journey. Saturday, December 31, 2016. I am spending such an exciting night this New Year's Eve. I am going between watching football and painting some bookcases while listening to fireworks from Destin. This makes the dogs jumpy. I am pondering whether I will stay up for the New Year. I am taking a break from painting right now to share the remainder of my week. Then you turn down this road to the new homes. The first...

Uncovering creativity at home. Tuscan Inspired Kitchen Remodel. July 27, 2015. You know the saying, “The kitchen is the heart of the home.” It truly is. It’s always the place where everyone congregates, it’s the place where your kids sit to do their homework, where you sit with a friend and have a cup of coffee, etc. This desk area is fabulous! It’s the hub of the kitchen. And no, it’s not always this clean! Here is a view from the kitchen looking into the family room. I love the view looking into the po...
Counting blessings at Cracker Barrel - Leslie Anne Tarabella

Counting blessings at Cracker Barrel. Leave a comment 14 Comments. June 9, 2016. Years ago, I taught in the Pre-Kindergarten program in an inner-city public school, and realized the students were confused when we read stories about Santa Claus. I finally grasped that it wasn’t the Jolly Old Elf who puzzled them, but the concept of a fireplace was totally foreign to a group of children who lived in government owned apartments. The honored pint-sized customers scrambled into their chairs and placed the nap...

A New Year’s field trip to Italy. Leave a comment 16 Comments. January 1, 2017. Well, I told you we’d be taking Joseph on a little homeschool field trip . . . Here we are in Italy! We’ve attended a beautiful concert of Christmas music, and have seen fabulous art, even on ceilings. The days have been bright and sunny in the mid 50 s, so we’ve just thrown coats on, and with all the walking we’ve done 6 to 9 miles a day (! And I may have had a bite or two of some really good food. Leave a comment 16 Comments.

Are Christians guilty of diluting Christmas? - Leslie Anne Tarabella

Are Christians guilty of diluting Christmas? Leave a comment 4 Comments. December 15, 2016. Before screeching at the rest of the world for not keeping Christ in Christmas, we should take a look at our own methods of celebration. Do we decorate our homes with more Santas, elves and reindeer than shepherds, angels and stars? Do we purchase Christmas music about Bethlehem or do we download “Christmas in the Trailer Park Again? 8221; (Yes, it’s a real song. Look it up — no, wait, don’t). Are you bummed-out t...

A Tour of Charming Benulee. Leave a comment 19 Comments. September 4, 2015. Crepe Myrtles line the long winding drive that leads to Benulee, which is a derivative of the name, “Benu,” the Egyptian version of the Phoenix, which rose again from the ashes. Benulee in Fairhope didn’t exactly rise from ashes, but it is the revived version of it’s predecessor across the bay in Mobile, Alabama. A few of these photos were used in the previous story about the wedding shower held at Benulee. The stairway landing h...

Random.acts.of.KINDness. Sunday, October 23, 2011. Just some random pictures of our Halloween decor! I tend to change it up every year and keep it interesting! We did the rope spiderweb for the first time thanks to Martha Stewart! Directions are in her Halloween issue this year. You might also notice the small white card behind the mum. We've been Boo'ed! When we moved to Florida in July 2011, we would jog around our neighborhood and I saw this fiber optic cat on a neighbor's front porch! Http:/ www....

home ec(lectic) | things old, things new, stuff to bake, and stuff to do
Things old, things new, stuff to bake, and stuff to do. October 23, 2012. These Halloween Graveyard Cupcakes were a hit with my third grader, who especially enjoyed helping me name each poor soul we laid to rest. The tutorial below is for the tombstones (gum paste) and the skeleton/zombie hands (royal icing). Before you begin, I should mention that it’s best to make the decorations. Ahead of when you need your cupcakes. Gum paste and royal icing both need time to dry! Gum paste, tinted grey. First, greas...

I Majored in Home Economics
A blog about decorating, sewing, cooking, gardening, family, and walking a faith filled journey. Monday, January 9, 2017. I decided to paint the bookcases in my daughter's old bedroom which I guess should be called the guest room, but really will always be her room. I have tried for the past two years to grow it up, but it still has her stuff in it and while I have taken a ton of it and stuffed in drawers, I have not completely "un Lindsay. I think I achieved that. Do I love them? Hubby sanded them and I...
