About Us: Some Myths about ex-racehorses
http://hopefulearl-aboutus.blogspot.com/2012/03/some-myths-about-ex-racehorses.html
Friday, 2 March 2012. Some Myths about ex-racehorses. Will your ex-racehorses gallop off flat out when I ask for canter? Not very likely. If the horse hasn’t been ruined by lack of knowledge when it finished racing, it should have a soft mouth, a good back, and respond to the lightest aids. These horses have only been ridden in the kindest of bits by professional riders, if they come to us straight from racing they are not difficult to retrain. Are they scatty and bad tempered? Friday, 2 March 2012. Pictured below left he is ridden by my daughter Alex competing in his second horse trials at Hambledon (placed second). Durham Hornet eventing with Alex (left), and 14 years later aged 23, enjoying teaching cross country jumping at Stilemans (right). Why the name `Hopeful Earl' you may ask? Earl, aged 21, with Ian at the beach. Earl and Ian in the sandschool. Earl being lunged Spring 2012. Another question I often hear is, "what IS `the difference'?
