jennyjennyjenny: April 2014
http://jenjenjenny.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
Monday, April 28, 2014. I have always wanted to try English patchwork. I had a go once, donkey's years ago when we used to cut up Corn Flake boxes to make the templates, but things have come a long way since then. Happily my creative friend suffered some recent (age related? Memory loss. She had the instructions for the block, forgot she had them and acquired them again. I was the lucky recipient of the second acquisition! I'd never heard of Lucy Boston, but I'm loving making her blocks. On the Spring ca...

Monday, June 16, 2014. When it comes to sewing methods, I am neither obsessive nor compulsive. I really struggle to keep things in any sort of control really. My stitching is done at "my" end of the sofa, under a good lamp. I know it'll fail, but I'll try. If I can just follow through, all I'll need on hand is a needle, a thimble and scissors. No mess! You see, once I'd done some blocks I couldn't resist seeing what they looked like with their surrounding background fabric. Labels: Patchwork and Quilting.

Sunday, July 6, 2014. Books and magazines: the chronology of a creative history. I haven't got squillions of books and magazines, but I do have a nice little collection. As any woman with a crafty tendency knows, you never throw them out. Consequently after many decades of stitching, you have gathered yourself a substantial stash which showcases nicely the changing trends and fads of both your own creative tendencies and what the market has offered. Did a set of six ferns on Irish linen, gave them away.

Wednesday, May 21, 2014. I'm loving English hand piecing. I've always been a fan of hand work and traditional techniques. How many times have quilters and embroiders heard the phrase "oh, I haven't got the patience for that".but much as machine piecing is quicker, I haven't got the patience for that! Sitting at the machine with tiny scraps of fabric, making sure the seam allowances are accurate and placement is spot on, drives me a bit crazy. These are the corner ones. I DO know Patrick dies though :(.

Friday, January 16, 2015. Cars, trains and automobiles. Cars, Trains and Automobiles. I recently had a go at the appliquéd plane in the lovely book Shabby Home, The Song of the Sea, by Francesca Ogliari. The original quilt has a plane, some clouds and some stars and is a small cot quilt. After doing the plane and clouds, I decided to expand the theme . Corner of the Sky by Francesca Oglari. Friday, February 13, 2015. Following on from the Things That Go theme, I've completed another twelve appliques on a London theme. Same method- google free clip art images/ cute/ London/ British. These are a bit brighter, more red, blue and black. Trivia: Big Ben is actually the bell not the clock or tower. British Airways. How you get there. Police Box with the fabrics I found for the backing :). No, it's not the Tardis). Delivery van from Hamleys Toy Shop. I just liked the truck. Andy Warhol Barbie Art.

Sunday, November 15, 2015. Moving house gets in the way of lots of things in life, blogging being one of these. For a start there's nothing to blog about unless you can write excitingly about unpacking boxes. And then there's the problems of where's the computer going and when exactly are Telstra going to get the internet working? The new place has a quaint little garden shed/ sleep out which will be just perfect for a sewing/craft studio. So with all my sewing and craft gear still mostly boxed up I'm do...

jennyjennyjenny: December 2014
http://jenjenjenny.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Sunday, December 28, 2014. It doesn't happen very often, but when it does, it feels good. That would be the completion of a quilt I'm talking about! Grandma's Garden, my second English Paper pieced quilt. I really enjoyed doing this one. The garden has individual flowers with single green "leaves", is bordered by a pretty pink "fence" and a scalloped edge with scrappy binding. All ready for a certain granddaughter's birthday tomorrow. Gosh, I like the look of that little stool on the cover! I'm a lover o...
