August | 2015 | The Reader In the Tower
https://thereaderinthetower.wordpress.com/2015/08
The Reader In the Tower. The Horseman – Adam Llewellyn. July 24, 2015. This classic Western tale of a vigilante after justice has some colourful writing, but its grim and graphic depiction of violence, particularly sexual violence, was too strong for my tastes. As I remarked a couple of hours ago on Twitter, this is the first review I’ve written that comes with a genuine, not-being-a-smartarse-here warning. I will be discussing the book’s heavy content in some detail. Whore and bitch are constantly and v...

The Reader In the Tower. The Sitar – Rebecca Idris. June 23, 2012. I wasn’t sure from the summary that this was going to be “my kind of book”. Then I read it and discovered “my kind of book” is anything written with this level of beauty and passion. For the first time, I’m finding myself having to make a few disclaimers and explaining myself before I begin this review proper:. On its basic level, the book focuses on the girls and their contrasting experiences of being a three-times minority – Femal...

The Reader In the Tower. Lies at Midnight – CT Wilding →. Books – Short or Long? I heard on the radio today that there’s a move a-foot for authors to be paid by the number of pages that readers actually read, rather than by the book I didn’t catch the whole article but I suspect a certain South American river may be the source of the story. Most Overrated Books (in My World) | The Reader In the Tower

The Reader In the Tower. Lies at Midnight – CT Wilding. Is Online Life Real Life? Ask EL. James. No, Ask Chuck Wendig →. Most Overrated Books (in My World). I finally read Alice Sebold’s ‘The Lovely Bones’ yesterday and was intrigued for the first 50 pages or so, then a bit bored, then finally frustrated. It’s an interesting premise (the omniscient narrator from heaven) and the adolescent voice is charming, but after a while the archness and sentimentality begin to jar. It just goes on.
