I wasn't there, but lots of other people were. Including some of the Kanias, who I can't believe would even show their faces at this point. See the Save La Ronda homepage. Though this was split up into three whole weeks away interspersed with time home, plus a couple other days and nights away here and there, it was a lot to happen in an 8-week stretch. As if last week wasn't already upsetting enough, on Thursday morning I started getting creepy text messages on my cell phone from some guy named Jamie. First he called and left some incoherent voicemail around 2AM. Then he sent a couple of texts. I'm not trying that again, although I doubt it would have made any difference. He already knew I was female from listening to my voicemail, which he probably knew he would get if he called at 2:36AM.

When looking to the future and contemplating parenthood, I never imagined myself riding on a schoolbus, with 30 overexcited kindergartners, in the rain, to an apple orchard. Monday, December 29, 2008. So imagine this: you take your family to a church Christmas pageant somewhere in Pennsylvania. You get seats, the lights go down, and the pageant begins. There are kids in robes and soloists and teenage holy parents and an older guy playing the Angel Gabriel. There are live sheep. There's even a live (though female) Baby Jesus kicking around up there in the manger. He's just a baby. I'm a big boy and I go poop in the potty! So nice to see my family's genetics hard at work.
