Thursday, December 21, 2017. Update on what is going on. If you have read the latest , brilliant LBSCR Modellers Digest 6. Then you will have read that David Lowe and I have taken over running Exclusively Brighton Models from Mike Waldron. He stated a wish to retire from kit production as he retired himself, so that he could finish some and complete his layout. So, we both wanted to see the range continue and have therefore taken over the running of it. Posted by Ian at 12:24 pm. Posted by Ian at 1:57 pm.

IanMacCormacModels: February 2007

Tuesday, February 27, 2007. Here is a picture of the first test etch for the diagram 23 Stroudley 4 wheel second class saloon of 1881 and 1882. This one has had brakes soldered on as well as the gas gauge on the solebar. I was inspired to produce this by the recent picture in the Brighton Circular - the magazine of the Brighton Circle, a society that researches about the LB&SCR. Posted by Ian at 10:44 pm. Sunday, October 05, 2008. What the castings look like. This is a photo of the castings I am recommending in the instructions. The buffers look good, the oil lamps okay but I am not convinced yet by the axleboxes. Do any of you know a source of 7mm axleboxes? Please let me know. The buffer pads are soldered up from parts provided in the etch. Right, I have been informed from Australia! That I have the wrong set of MetroCam axleboxes! If you have bought an etch please order CS33! Posted by Ian at 9:00 pm.

IanMacCormacModels: April 2007

http://ianmaccormacmodels.blogspot.com/2007_04_01_archive.html

Sunday, April 01, 2007. Aha you say, parts of a loco at last! Posted by Ian at 10:03 pm. Another shot of Alexandra showing the door end. The floor will be level with the bottom of the doorway. Three layers of etching on the windows to try to get the relief of the original car, and a bit of filing around the doorway to get the curve in to the door itself. What do you think? Posted by Ian at 10:01 pm. The card is a tryout for part of the roof. I am continuing to work on this as it looks okay so far! These ...

http://ianmaccormacmodels.blogspot.com/2012/04/started-making-up-test-etch-at-last-hi.html

Monday, April 30, 2012. Started making up the test etch at last! Hi again, after another few months where I haven't been able to get anywhere near my workbench. I have found that, mostly, things have gone together okay. Very pleased with the firebox front and the cab suround. There are a few problems - the wrapper for the smoebox, boiler and firebox are a couple of mm short! I forgot to make an allowance for joining the body to the chassis! My boss said go and make a train so I am trying!

Dave's LBSCR projects: 2008-09

http://lbscr.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html

After a long pause where I've been playing with other models, I've had a very pleasant couple of days re-acquainting myself with my soldering iron and RSU. I've been building an 1864 Craven First from Ian MacCormac. Which I bought at Scaleforum. The kit went together well and has produced a very nice model:. The model is largely complete, just needs a clean up and some casting for the axle boxes, lamps and buffers and a decision on couplings. Now I must get back to some locos! It is the missing carriage from the now re-released Branchlines range. Last updated August 2016. Our next two shows for the layout are Haywards Heath and Newcastle, both later this year, 2016, so this gives plenty of time for additions and improvements to the layout. Lots of progress was made earlier in the year, described here. And more recent progress here. I’ve also been refurbishing/repairing/servicing/completing various locos, with the intention of having a fully functional loco roster for the next show, described in a bit more detail here. Constantly risking absurdity and death. Linkdump, January 3, 2012. Posted January 4, 2012. In the interest of finding a way to publish regularly, here are some links to things I’ve found interesting and/or useful of late. Gonna try to hit Publish every time I get to three of them and stop myself from overthinking. At Stanford: I’m trying out CS 101, technology entrepreneurship and human-computer interaction. It’s good to know my team isn’t the only team that deals with stuff like this. Return to the fray.

Electrical done, bar mocked. I’ve made it to the point of having my electrical figured out. I of course had difficulties with a pinched wire in one of the Kury signals – and had to take off the Kury heat shrink around the wires, get the wires through the bolt, and then re-do the heat shrink. Nothing can be easy! See, it didn’t fit! The Kury signals up close:. And neither did the bolt! The bike mocked up with Baron’s Big Johnson bar and lights. And the build starts…. February 4, 2010.
