The Garret

20 May 2014 @ 01:00 am. We belong to the sound of the words we've both fallen under. Today was a beautiful day, of the kind that remind me why I moved here. Wrote a bit, got a smoothie and drank it in the park with Cavafy’s selected poems, took a nap with Copernicus, wrote some more. Slow progress is being made, much of it on the wrong side of the line between context and wild speculation. I got an ARC of The Bane Chronicles. Plus I like just about anything Sarah Rees Brennan and Maureen Johnson write.

01:47 pm September 5th, 2011. I wish I could catch up, I really do. Theres so much to share about Lynx and everything else going on in my life, but time continues short. But I now have just ten weeks to write my dissertation, which I have to do between consulting and teaching, not to mention my #1 priority, Lynx, so Im going to have to stay off the Internet as much as possible. Fiction writing and related activities also need to go on hold, unfortunately. 1) First up, book covers! Writing hasnt been fina...

And sunshine. And cider. And serendipity. And also words. The mechanics of dialect, transcription, and life as a government agent. Jul 18th, 2012 at 12:02 AM. I work for the government. If you read what I have to say about that in this entry, I may have to kill you. I try to mitigate this kind of dumb mistake by warm-ups. Have you guy ever learned the piano? And you know how your teachers would make you do scales, endless scales, and arpeggios to warm your hands up? 10 comments Leave a comment. I have to...

Land of the Miracle Demon Pigs - The Revolution Will Not Be Anthologised. 02:08 am July 23rd, 2011. Land of the Miracle Demon Pigs. After UAE, I flew to Amman in Jordan. The tourist sites in Jordan are very quiet at the moment, as lots of tourists are staying away because of the political problems in the Middle East. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. I also visited Jerash, one of the best-preserved ancient Roman cities in the world. Originally published at Aidan Doyle. You can comment here or there.

Once upon a dream. One day youll awaken to loves first kiss. 26 February 2014 @ 12:39 pm. Tumblr prompt gone wild. There are no coincidences, only jerks who choose the worst possible moment to show up on your doorstep with a box of chocolates. That moment, of course, being the one where you're handing your keys over to the landlady while a taxi waits at the curb to take you to the airport, where hopefully a functional plane waits to take you to your next assignment but you couldn't tell him. In which I c...
