http://mandadorough.blogspot.com/2012/07/im-moving.html
Friday, July 6, 2012. This fall I'll be moving to Bolivia to work with Hospitals of Hope. And I thought it was only fitting to start this new season of my life with a new blog! While "A life Extraordinary" was a great place to document my post college memories as I experienced life back home and in Thailand, it's time to move on! I'll be leaving this site up for archives but all. Future posts will be made at my new blog which you can find at:. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

A Life Extraordinary: Threads of Hope
http://mandadorough.blogspot.com/p/threads-of-hope.html
My life seems to be filled with fundraisers these days, but this one is truly special. This family. He could see that they were living in desperate conditions and deeply wanted to help but he knew they wouldn't take it without giving something in return. So he told them he wanted $100 worth of bracelets and he would pick them up the next time he visited. When he came back they presented him with 1300 bracelets! So why am I selling them? I committed to the World Race knowing that this was so much bigger t...

A Life Extraordinary: Exploring Portland
http://mandadorough.blogspot.com/2011/03/exploring-portland.html
Sunday, March 13, 2011. Growing up in Seattle, Portland was always our friendly neighbor to the south. I would drive through it on my way to hear, again on my way to there. In fact I've past through Portland at least 2 dozen times, but I never actually stopped in Portland and I thought there was no time like the present for this to be remedied. Walking down the street the first interesting item we came upon were tons of "food trucks." So much good food and tons of Thai food! We're almost in the door!

A Life Extraordinary: Greetings From the Land of One Week Early
http://mandadorough.blogspot.com/2011/10/greetings-from-land-of-one-week-early.html
Monday, October 31, 2011. Greetings From the Land of One Week Early. What have I been up to these last few months? My World Race adventures began in Ecuador. Where I straddled the fake Equator. Then found a home in a small farming town called Conocoto. We worked hard 5 days a week building a church. But still found time to enjoy our off days in Quito. We even made new friends in the park. Our last weekend we journeyed high into the Andes rainforests to hike. Next we were off to Peru. Our first day we eve...

A Life Extraordinary: Semester at Sea
http://mandadorough.blogspot.com/p/semester-at-sea.html
My freshman year of college I became a little obsessed. Somehow, I had come across the Semester at Sea website. It was amazing. A semester of college, on a ship, traveling the world! Um, yes please. I watched the video over and over again. I tell you, I was obsessed, and I shared it with everyone I knew. I had visions of myself on a Safari in Africa and climbing the great wall of china. I even went so far as to plan the trips I would take. Fast Forward to the future. I want to be able to aid in the prepa...

A Life Extraordinary: Hello? Are you still there???
http://mandadorough.blogspot.com/2011/07/hello-are-you-still-there.html
Wednesday, July 13, 2011. Are you still there? Knock, knock, knock. Hello is anyone there? Apparently not me since my last post was months ago! Since then I've roadtripped from Denver to NC and back for World Race Training camp in eastern TN and it was amazing. I have a great squad and a great team! Then, after I got back I quit my job, cleaned, packed and right now I'm sitting in the Miami airport waiting to catch a flight to the first country of my race, Ecuador! And I am so excited!

A Life Extraordinary: Nepal

Scroll down to see more about our itinerary, the airline and our packing list). Teaching in Thailand comes with certain perks like long breaks and having easy access to other Asian countries. These two factors helped me and a group of friends decide to spend our two week October break in 2008 visiting Nepal and hiking the fabled Everest Trail. Day 1: Fly from Bangkok to Dhaka (overnight in Bangladesh). Day 2: Fly from Dhaka to Kathmandu. Day 4: Hike from Phakding to Namche Bazaar. Day 8: Hike from Dingbo...

A Life Extraordinary: The World Race
http://mandadorough.blogspot.com/p/world-race.html
Is an incredible 11 country mission adventure I'll be taking part in from July 2011-May 2012. This is my chance to both initiate change and be changed myself. We will be serving in several different capacities, some of which might be construction and other physical labor, teaching english, working in orphanages, evangelism and befriending women caught in the sex trade. It will be both incredible and life changing. So how is it possible? That's a HUGE chunk of change! Eastern Europe (2 countries TBD).
