Monday, February 23, 2009. Because that is what he always says to me and since I laughed at the joke the first time, I was suddenly in on the joke even though it was now told in Korean. . So anyway, I wish I could carry a tape recorder around with me to record some of our conversations. He likes to use me as his own personal English dictionary and etymology expert. Wednesday, July 8, 2009. What are they teaching these kids? Outside of my English Zone there is a sign that flashes English words or phrases and their Korean translations. Each day the students are supposed to write down the words and then they are quizzed on them on Fridays. Yesterday I noticed this gem of a phrase: . Really, some students can't even understand "My name is.", but yet you want them to be able to say this? Mom and dad said. That is so funny hon! Watch for Michael Douglas name next!

The Adventures of Taryn Teacher. Tuesday, November 23, 2010. Good riddance, rainy season! Upon our return from Bali, the rain stopped and "cold season" was upon us. As a Minnesotan, I've experienced blistering cold, sub-zero winters and was a bit skeptical, but it actually is. Cold right now. Granted I live in a poorly insulated bamboo hut, but as I'm writing this, I'm sitting at my computer wearing long sleeves, long pants, and fuzzy socks with a fleece blanket wrapped around me. Hope thailand is fun.

Monday, August 17, 2009. After many many flights, (Seoul to Taipai to Bangkok to Delhi to Kathmandu- all to save $500, and actually it was kind of worth it) I arrived in Kathmandu.
